UPDATE OF LORENZO HOUSE RULE

Post by CRAZY_HORSE007 »

Can any one give me the last update of Lorenzo house rule, including air supply mission increasing experience bug.

Because on the Yoki Yahoo briefcase it is unreadable.

Thanks in advance.

I checked this, The HintsandHouserules.doc works fine in wordpad. ( i dont use any MS products i dont have to so i dont know if it works in WORD,,,,,Bill is evil,,,)

The airsupply missions bug is that if you have say 5 bombers in an HQ and 5 fighters you can order 5 seperate resupply missions to another hex and the 5 fighters get about 1 experience point(each) per mission. A good way to raise fighter experience in the early game but hardly realistic.

If you really hate Bill, you'd convert that file to ascii so anyone with anything from notepad on up can read it. Seriously, this is why we converted the editwir docs to ascii, and keep the readme as ascii. The proprietary Word format is bad when there is absolutely no reason to use it .... and everyone who thinks that everyone else has MS Office is downright evil.

Hate??

I do'nt hate bill but i think than anyone with tens of billions that could be spent on something worthwhile but who chooses to do nothing usefull with it but expand Microsoft. Well, its the same as if bill had an everest of food and the family next door is starving.
A complex problem..Personally i would be happy with a few million and use the rest to help others (and some for specific research of my choice)

Hi, I'm not a Bill Gates fan but to be fair, He has spent over a BILLION dollars on health care in third world countries. He Donated 10 MILLION dollars to the City of Seattle public libary and 1 Billion dollars per year to United Way and others. Of course he makes over a billion dollars every three months.

And still it really sucks in the 3rd world. Funny how the third of everything turns out so bad...

I reckon we could base a game on the INTEL vs MOTOROLA saga. We could call it "Chip Wars". The aim, of course, is to achieve world domination. However, the AI controls two additional (computer) opponents, one a Harvard dropout with an amazing sense of timing (ie. Billy), the other a Scandanavian with a sweet spot for Charlie Brown (ie. the dude who invented "Linux"). In this game, you would find it hard to beat the massive advantage handed to the "Billy" opponent, by IBM.

Oh, dear. Well, I just figured anyone who thinks he's evil must hate him. Guess I'm wrong on that.

Personally, I don't hate him either, and I don't care how much money he has or what he does with it. What concerns me is the ruthless, monopolistic actions of his company, whose ultimate goal, whether they can admit this to themselves or not, is to destroy user freedom of choice.

Yes you are.
Hate? (i cannot hate what i have not encountered) Hate is personal, i have never met him and i consider hate to be an 'abolished' word. It serves no function but to degrade human evolution.

Hate is not required to oppose potential evil. (hate is not required in any situation but unfortunately it seems to provide a destinct focusing of intent. This is a topic that could fill volumes)

I was pretty much joking with the 'evil' bit.

Even blind stupidity (he is not) or 'ignorance' can be considered 'evil' from a certain subjective viewpoint. (ie,, putting it on the subject to use the potential of his mind).

So assuming that Bill is not stupid i must assume he is simply ignorant. No problem,, having untold wealth does not buy one iota of wisdom.

remeber two phrases and you'll be ok

1. Microsoft sucks

2. Win Blows

If you hate bill so much, stop buying PCs with winBLOWS on them and use Linux or OS/2. Or get a Mac. Then see how many great games and other applications are out there for you.

Yeah, I can hear the laughs, but the one who is really laughing is bill.

I'm still running winblows 95 (I got the CDs for free) on my home machine and won't spend dime one on any new winblows operating system.
Still playing PacWar (but no so much anymore)...

I still have to administrate about 250 PCs with OS/2 at work (Bank).
B.t.w. WIR and PACWAR run very fine under OS/2.

Perhaps you could really consider a change of your operating system .

If you need some help installing it let me know

Have thought of using Linux, what wont run on it?
Is it best to use a partition (i have partition magic4) and have both OS's on the machine?

Linux can be fun, but its not easy, and its not a version of Windows or DOS, so no Windows or DOS stuff "runs on it". There are emulators for both, Wine (Windows) and DOSemu (DOS), but they aren't easy to setup either, and they don't run everything (but they run a lot now).

Once you've got dual-boot working, its the easiest way to keep one foot in both worlds, but getting it set up the first time can be a bitch.

I personnally use Windows 2000 and am very glad about it. It runs very stable with just a few problems with some older games.
The multitasking is much better than with 95/98/ME (for example playing a game and listening to MP3's simultanouesly)

I agree Marc, BUT i have one problem. I cant switch to another program while playing WIR. It just ends up "freezing". Any clue? Its just probably a compability thing with DOS(ive run across it ones or twice before).

I never have problems with dos games in win95

Maybe you should downgrade..

Concerning that computer version of War in Europe.
I d/loaded the demo and wow, i'd forgotten how primative the combat system was. Very shallow and not much fun compared to the WiR system (even World in flames system is much superior)
