Playing with out supplies?

Post by mlibassi »

I got the game and have decided to play w/o any supplies. My though was if I am supreme commander I have some 2 start taking care of the supplies, etc.
I really wanted to focus on more on the grand strategy not the grand supply of WWII.
I stated my first game w/o supplies (as Allies) and finish my first turn. At fist this seems to make the game more fun for me. I was wondering if there are any other players playing w/o any supplies.

Thoughts, comments?

Thanks

Playing without supply means everyone can make a lot more units. As supply is mostly used for the side on the offensive playing without supply should mean that the balance tips towards being on the attack. If thats more fun to you - cool - but it does change the balance drastically.

Might I suggest playing with simple supply instead. That way you dont terribly have to worry about where the supply is - only that you build enough of it.

Playing with simple supply is reasonable. I play with advanced supply because plannning in advance where and how much supply is needed adds another dimension to the game for me.

As a new gamer I am playing, at least at first, without supplies. This game has a short, but steep, learning curve. I would have been overwhelmed trying to learn this game in its entirety fresh outta the box.

I just wish the manual was better put together. I will pause the game to try to look something up and figure out whats happening or not happening.... and usually I walk away more confused than when I started. Plus I dont think the manual is accurate on all topics, or at least it seems that way in a few areas.

Luckily this forum is great and friendly!

I agree about the forum being great. all the stuff I've learned would have made a muti-volume rule book.

My first few games where with "Simple" supply rules, then I got used to the feel of the game and switched to advanced supply and let me tell you its another game completly. I find it much more fun to play with advanced supply now :)

But thats just me... Your mileage may vary, no animals where harmed, all models over 18...

I play with simple supply rules, since I like it most. It's the golden mean. [:)]

I played with simple supply rules my first two games, before making the switch to advanced for my first PBEM. It makes a huge difference to your Russian campaign, playing as Germany, that is for sure.
