ETA on Patch?

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

ETA on Patch?

Post by bssy »

I'm waiting for the patch that allows saves during detailed battles and contains an "undo" button. Any idea on an eta for the patch? Thanks in advance

I think they posted a few days back that 1 week = 15% chance 2 to 3 weeks = 80% chance. or something like that.

The first patch fixes many CTDs and provides the save during detailed battle. It does NOT include an undo button - thats quite a bit of work, and WCS/Matrix want this first patch out fast.

As for when, well, it is getting really stable, and the CTDs and alt-tab issues seem fixed. I know of one pesky issue with the save button (after restoring from save some of the reports aren't picking up correctly). I'm hoping for late next week. (Remember, once the dev thinks it is fixed, the testing need a few days, and then putting it up takes a day or two.)

Your message was from the 17th which was last Sunday. Today is Thursday which would make today roughly "late next week". Any update on progress? Is it imminent or should we temper our expectations?

I can drive over from Grand Rapids and pick up the file from the office if you'd like. [:D] Fix the detailed combat crash and I'll buy someone lunch at Raji Rani's. Of course if you find a good job for me, I'll take the office out for lunch, but first things first.

Good to hear. I just purchased the game, began a game as Sweden and was thoroughly enjoying myself. The brits attacked me (with Wellington in command), but despite being outnumbered, I held my own -- and killed Wellington. Think were just starting to get interesting when I CTD'd... Very disapointing, and not a good way to make me be glad I purchased this game.

Are you guys using App Verifier and a debug environment for your testers? I think that this is critical, and will help avoid issues like this one.

Just a thought...

Just to clarify, I was willing to drive over to Ann Arbor not Vermont! The offer of going to the Indian buffet stands though. I haven't been over there in a few years and it would be cool to have a meet and greet.

Maybe it is just me, but I have only had one CTD in detailed combat. Yesterday I played through three detialed battles with about 300000 troops combined in each battle. The one thing I did differently was to save just before I run the turn. When I do this I have not had the CTDs.[:)][8D]

Thanks for the update. A little communication goes a long way.

Just teasing mate. I'm a mod at Trainz rr simulator and we have lot of people asking for patches and the standard answer is the above. Meaning, patience is a virtue......

What we have here is failure to communicate[:)]. I don't give a rat's behind when the patch is ready, I just want to know if it is worthwhile starting a new game.

What do you mean when you say you "save before I run the turn"?? You can't save during detailed combat. I have crashed almost every time I have tried detailed combat. Sometimes after an hour, which is most frustrating. I'm putting the game aside until I can patch it so it doesn't crash. I hope it is soon as gameplay is great.

I haven't suffered from any crashes so far (possibly coz I didn't dictate detail battles very often). Just curious if I may yet get far more than my fair share of crashes hereafter, even after the patch, to make myself an equal victim to you guys. d(~.~)b

i got eric to write a filter, so you can open 1.0 saves in 1.1, but unf not v.v. (So all players in a pbem will need to upgrade at the same time.)

seems to work fine!
