David Heath asked in the board a sort of survey to know if something like that should be done. Initially a Nam version of WaW was planned, but i don't know the last changes.

It's now called Steel Panthers: Modern War. Time frame 1950 - 2005 or so. Release date, maybe late this year.

SPWaW is the best tactical game going!! Please tell me there is plans to upgrade the system for moren combat from 1945 to the near future. The gaming potential is incredible!! The SPWaW would be the perfect gaming system to recreate modern "low intensity" combat, special forces scenarios and intense, all out tank busting carnage!
