CoW : War-historical's Wargame of the Year 2005

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

Thank you to the war-historical newsgroup! I see from the thread that it was a solid victory, with 38 votes for CoG and 26 for Hears of Iron 2 for second place. Congratulations to Western Civilization Software. [&o]

I'm also happy to see that Matrix Games titles took the #4 - #7 spots as well.

Regards,

- Erik

It gets even better - Joel Billings contacted me to point out that my math skills have gone down the drain. It turns out that World at War shares an equal 3rd place with Silent Hunter 3.

So it's #1 and #3 for Matrix Games

Well, that's what you get if you run out of fingers and toes to count on [;)]

I actually put that mistake in there on purpose, to see if you were all paying attention. And only Mr. Billings noticed it. Shame on you all !!

Long story about broken computers. Long, long time ago my normal PC had a screen problem. Had to transfer CoG to my notebook. Which also broke down after some time. Got my normal compu-screen back an decided to shelve the game for a while until the patches were released. Forgot my Latour_Maubourg password ofcourse. Asked for a new one but I only get new Latourg_Maubourg passwords because they have the same e-mail adress and somehow the server doesn's recognize the old and correctly spelled Latour_Maubourg, so I have to use this new one. Anyways, I'm back and ready for some cavalry charges. I have to say that the patches solved for me most of the problems.

Sure, the voting was "in the clear"

(1) BATTLES IN ITALY
(2) WAR PLAN ORANGE
(3) FLASHPOINT GERMANY

And before anybody asks - I voted

1st place : Crown of Glory
2nd place : Civil War - Bull Run
3rd place : Gary Grigsby's World at War
