December 28/29, 1941
At Johore, only bombardments by the Japanese - apparently no fight left. My ground forces have received orders to fall back to Singers nonetheless. With the fall of Kluong last turn and Kuala Lumpur this turn, all units remaining in Central Malaya are now definetly cut-off from Singers - the slow going along the railroad from Khota Baru never really gave them any chance to make it anyway.
Blenheims on night bombing actually managed to hit something and destroyed a Zero on the ground at Mersing. A few remaining Buffalos still provide LRCAP over the last few Dunkirk-TFs and managed to down four Netties, but couldn't totally prevent ship losses. And lack of numbers on CAP over Singers airfields allowed the Japanese to hit Singers airfields hard. All remaining air asset have now been ordered to the DEI.
Still, the main body of the Indian 11th Division made it to Palembang with acceptable losses. With the fall of Singers only a question of time, I will try to evacuate as many forces as possible from Singers to Palembang, in the hope of causing as much damage to the oil facilities as possible.
ABDA cruisers and DDs will migrate to Palembang when finished with repairs at Soerabaya to try and make any invasion attempt as costly as possible - it is urgent, as Japanerse cruisers did pay a visit this turn.
Ambon invaded, Kendari still a stalemate, air support has been lifted out to go to Palembang to support CAP.
In the PI, air resistance ended, the remaining figter units have been disbanded to have the airframes reappear magically in the pools for use elsewhere. The pilots have been pulled as well and they will magically reappear in fighter units being deployed elsewhere.
In China, still a lot of marching going on, and one overconfident Japanese Inf Regiment got punished.
Finally, KB has been located the hard way sout of Noumea !

Japanese bombing of Singers, Manila and Bataan in order to prevent fort building start in earnest (just after Singers reached fort level 3). Disaster off Palembang, fresh sub-laid minefield discovered the hard way. Sloppy staff work fails to give evacuation orders to air assets on Ambon, 9 Hudson I destroyed in the ground fighting. Pinprick naval bombardments by Allied naval units at Kendari and Enderbury Is. Enemy troops landing at Koumac on New Caledonia! KB off New Zealand!

The invasion of Borneo finally starts, I hope the defenders will destroy a maximum of oil centers before yielding control of Miri, Brunei and Tarakan.

Hey, glad to know that I have at least one follower [:)] Sadly, the game is currently on hold and may stop entirely. Both sides have some RL "issues" (for my part, I'm in the process of moving) which impact our available playing time. Furthermore, my cherished opponent Ed told me he's not enjoying playing the Japanese side as much as he enjoyed playing the Allies and finds it hard to motivate himself to do turns. We have agreed to put the game on hold for 3 months and then see if the lure of WITP is strong enough to resume the game.

The Japanese side is a logistical challenge little understood by those who only play the Allied side. Reading the many AARs here some really embrace the logistic side of it which allows them to change what the Japanese did historically, the Allied can't change what get produced and when like the Japanese can. Others find the logistics to be a grind and overwhelming. I am sure he is fun whacking around the early war Allies but this additional aspect on the Japanese player isn't always every players cup of tea.

I can understand your opponent, I haven’t really enjoyed my Japanese games very much, compared to the Allied ones. To each his own I guess.

I usually play the Allies against the AI. But I think that it is important for any regular Allied player to try the Japanese, at least against the AI if nothing else, just to learn the capabilities of that side.
Good luck with moving, that is not fun. My kittens were all upset when I moved. The were highly stressed until I laid down with the computer - then they realized that this was their new home. They then cuddled with me and settled down.
