A Quick and Short Wish List For Now...

Post by GWsFBAStartOct292006 »

Obviously, not all of these were my ideas, respect to those who came up those ideas.

I expect *The FootBall Playing Industry Standard* features to meet before most of these are attempted. The features that are ** are the features that I would expect sooner than the rest.

1. **ABLE TO TRADE PLAYERS/PICKS, DURING DRAFTS AND INTO THE FUTURE

2. **Selecting form many different types of playoff systems*, which would include teams playing series and having to win a certain number of consecutive games, no just games over all. *-Decided on when creating the league, using matters such as best record in each division makes playoffs (NFL's Playoffs), % of teams, with best records, making playoffs, how many rounds and how many rounds off for the % of playoff teams, with the very best records.

3. **If it is not already involved Super Conferences, Conferences, Divisions/like NFL's Conferences and Quarters/like NFL's Divisions that are customizable.

4. *Stats, Videos and Trophy Cases (like Madden NFL) for Coaches, Players and Stats (utilities for FBP '98), Videos and Trophy Cases (like Madden NFL) Coaches and Players that have retired.*

5. *Weekly practices (like ESPNNFL's) and end of season training camps (like Madden NFL's).*

6. **Able to move OL around, have more than one-of any position, able to throw to any position at any position in the play (OL & QB passes, HB behind the line of scrimmage and next to the sidelines, without having to move the HB and Etc.), Pass routes with options/reads, flip plays, any position able to run the option, TE LOG OC ROG ROT LOT and OL at FB, change players on the LOS splits**, *draw one's own zones* and **if the player is in "read" and the play is a pass, I want to assign the zone they cover instead of them just running back, if the play is a run then the player would just play the run and etc.** As long as it is legal in the real game(s) is in The M-FB Game.

7. *Trades into the future and involving draft picks, and other popular GM features (can be allowed or not allowed by commissioners).*

8. *Able to play/H2H exhibition games On-Line, between teams of the same league.*

9. **It would be great to have a scouting or film room section in the game.** *Create the ability for a coach in a league to choose to "tape" an opponents game. The tape would be a file with a record of the opponents game, could be as simple as a play call output with down/distance, quarter, time left, and results of each play or if you could devise a way for the file to be imported into the game and actually replay the game through a VCR like interface.

10. Keeping these "tapes" in individual files I think would be key because a coach could keep archives of his opponents, share the "tapes" with other coaches, etc*

11. *A key or in the menu to swap from computer to coach.*

12. **A. Players Progressing Into The Next Level Of Created Football Leagues.

13. Have League Minimums and Maximums To: Meet Or Retire and Not Exceed or Dropped To Maximums' Limits, that increase while moving through selected FootBall Levels: Youth-Professional. Able to customize those League Minimums and Maximums, when creating leagues.

14. Players move-Up From Youth (Created Leagues) to H.S. (Created Leagues) to CFB (Created Leagues) to Either:

15. Professional (Created Leagues) or Semi-Professional (Created Leagues) & Season Allocations from Professional Leagues to Semi-Professional Leagues.

16. Create leagues that would allow The Internet, LAN and Single Computer Players to play together. On-Line leagues is a must for any FB Game.

17. Use Madden NFL's Players' Composure performance ratings and Head Coaches, Coordinators and Ass. Coaches' Composure, Communication and etc performance ratings, along with the industry standard Players' Intelligence and Discipline performance ratings. Along with Use Madden NFL's Fans’ Composure, Intelligence, Discipline and etc performance ratings and new Create Owners feature (when take over teams you can choose to use simulations of real life owners or create a new one) with Composure, Intelligence, Discipline and etc performance ratings; However, have them affected by the following feature.**

18. Allow the creating and editing Formations, Plays, Game Plans And Profiles AS THE GAMES ARE PLAYED, DURING TIME OUTS, HALF-TIMES, BEFORE AND DURING EXTENDED PLAY (of Awesome And Badly Needed Feature, That I Have Yet To See on Any FootBall Game.)

19. It would not be necessary, but cool if shown in very small PIPs at breaks in the game Head Coaches, Coordinators and Ass. Coaches shown with (Formations and Plays) or without marker boards and/or Pictures (Profiles and Plays) communicating the in game adjustments to the players.

20. It would not be necessary, but cool if you could have Owners on the sidelines celebrating with players/coaches or motivating their players/coaches or cursing their teams’ bad luck.

21. It would not be necessary, you could type the Head Coaches, Coordinators and Ass. Coaches, Owners and Players Dialogues.

22. Customizable Overtime Period: 30-Minutes to get First-Score, 4-Tries from 20-Yard Lines, Best Out of 4-Field Goal Attempts Each Team or 30-Minutes Period - Exactly the same as The Regular-Time Period and Who has the Most Points (at the end) wins.

23. Automatic Subbing, like in Madden NFL and Programmed into Teams' Profiles.*

24. Hide Opponents Plays, whether they are playing from The Internet, LAN. I am sure it is impossible, for now, but hiding the plays of opponents playing on the same computer.

25. *I know there are Player Profiles, in which one can Download Real Face Shots to replace of the Given Face Shots. That is good; but it would be cool if like The Madden NFL there were Coaches' (Head and Assistant) Profiles and Leagues' Officers (Commissioner and Etc.) Profiles, in which one can Download Real Face Shots to replace of the Given Face Shots.*

26. Ability to broadcast any games' play (not just the scoreboard), through The LAN/The Internet. Can do split screens for 4-games, played at once.

27. Not as important, a Fantasy FootBall Feature would be a nice, using the players in the leagues. of course, it would have to prevent participants from picking their own players & prevent participants from choosing their players (for each week) from each week's opponent.

28. Keep Each Previous Version's Wishlist Items Not Able To Address, In This Forum, For The Next Version.

Then we will not have to repeat wish list items, as much.[:)]

29. How can any Sports Gaming Game not have one of the most important athletic skill to develop?

Acceleration (how quick to top speed) is more important than even Speed (how fast one is), getting as fast as possible from Set position to Assignments is a lot more important. Ask all those slow WRs (few are not even big); however, can get open out of cuts and off of LOS.

30. To Prevent League/Assocaition Owners from Playing Their Next Opponent in a Game, Before They Play.

Have a the program lock Human Owners league/association opponents locked down, only unlocked each time they play each the in league's association's Scriminages (if possible-through FB Gaming Game), PreSeason, Regular-Season or Playoffs/Post-Season league's/association's year is deleted from the Human Owners' computer. The Human Owners cannot play scriminages, practices, exhibition or regular-season or playoff games against their next opponents. Not only that, but prevent Human Owners from placing their next opponents in newly created leagues/associations.

31. Able to choose either 12-draft rounds or 7-draft rounds, in The NFL league.

32. Make MF easier to use and understand for FB Gaming Industry Fans new to MF.

Too many improvements (through new releases, made constantly); instead of just taking time to correct everything possible, add next features (functions without errors and confusion*) and move on to the next version, not rely on constant new releases correction of the games errors in functioning).

Even with today’s fast paced society and media, no matter what company one operates (matrix & MF) one has to connect it back to something familiar and solid in the industry it sells its products in. FB Gaming Industry simply connects itself both through licensing, feel of its FB Games and that the current version will not have to almost patch all its features for it to pull off what it promise, let alone claims. Now, I agree that licensing and to do everything the way it is currently done is not needed; however, the solidness of FB Games’ familiar foundations is a must. Whether it is processes to use features or the actual features not needing a ton of understanding, accepting of not well thought out changes to basic FB Gaming Industry Features to their relationships to the rest of the game and incorrectly addressing the challenges to making the game better/more competitive and etc or patching for them to work right.

Perfect and recent example, is snaking the draft picks in MF Drafts; the reason this is done is to prevent teams drafting at the top from building teams a lot stronger than the teams drafting at the bottom. What is ridiculous is that other games (one I know of FBP ’98) gives the league/association commissioners and purchasers the ability to move teams up and down the draft order (that stays the same through the entire drafts). The solution is one that The NFL had come up with long time ago, the teams with the worse records and that lose earliest in The NFL playoffs draft earlier. End of that problem; because if a owner (no matter in the real world or the FB Gaming World) decides his team/program/franchise will to lose to draft earlier, then if he does not draft the right person then he was fooling himself and wasted a opportunity to go father, the previous season. What is the biggest thing (among many, including roster management and etc**) that levels the playing field of the early drafter and late drafter, in the FB Gaming World, is having the best possible Play Editor/Play Designer/whatever you want to call the feature. Without any restrictions cast upon the play creators, by League/Association commissioners, because of the limited thought process (and desire to work at Play Creation, like they work on other things) that makes far too many think A.I. Busting plays cannot be stopped. Give me time, ability to create Plays, Game Plans and Profiles, and watching A.I. Busting Plays and I can stop any A.I. Busting Play (Offense, Defense or Special Teams).

*-Not meaning to just do what FB Gaming Industry Fans new to MF are used to, from EAS and others.

**-I am do not want salary caps, but that is also huge item that levels the field.

I do appreciate the attempt to do what I suggested in one of my latest posts. I suggested as a wishlist item that MF keep all unaddressed Suggestions/Wishlist Items, from version to version, so we do not have to just keep posting about the same suggestions/wishlist items (cannot find thread).

I type attempt, because the font is not dark red, in the original thread I talking about everyone's suggestions/wishlist items and not just mine and you just reposted (making it impossible for to make the font complete) exactly the original posts in the original threads into one thread and numbered them. Again, I am appreciative of the attempt.

Here is my suggestion/question, *why not just go to the original threads of this forum and activate them as active-to show on the forum.*

Even if the above is possible, we all run into the same problem, we think of new suggestions/wishlist items, every so often, and thus becomes outdated and (the appreciated attempt you did I cannot edit) there becomes several threads from each member and forum becomes overcrowded with threads. So this is what I am thinking, have the above* and start from there each member creates their own thread for all their suggestion/wishlist items from there on?

Of course, then there is the problem of at least half of the members' suggestion/wishlist items threads becoming overcrowded with posts (several suggestion/wishlist items and the replies to them) moving the newer suggestion/wishlist items to page 4 or 5 or more. Then the questions becomes will interested members bother going through posts to read that new suggestion/wishlist item?

Maybe, have small forums for each member to post threads on their suggestion/wishlist items and not overcrowd this forum or their threads. Plus, if a member does not like another member, not could they block the member but could also just never go to that forum.

A few I would like to see

32 - Would like the play and game clock to go down to 10 seconds after selecting a play, except for the last 3 minutes of a half. Perhaps an option to turn it on/off during the game. If you are trailing, you will not want to run the clock down.

33 - Better clock management by the AI. I was driving toward the end of the half and the AI kept calling timeout, thus saving me time to add more points on the board.

34 - Spike the ball play to kill the clock

35 - If the text after a play would say who was covering him, that would be nice. Especially if he knocks the pass down

36 - remove the studder/shake in some animations. QB dropping back and runner trying to go through a hole, etc... where they rotate left/right several times really fast, even when walking.

37 - Get to the line quicker. It takes players too long to get set.

Thanks

I have to kinda disagree with point #32.  This was brought up in the past and it sounds good if your using a 40 second play clock, but I use a shorter play clock setting (30 to 35 usually to simulate NFLE's shorter play clock) and the CFL has a very short play cloak aswell (20 or 25 seconds).

Also, Football Pro 98 has always had a bit of a problem with Time Clock and Play Clock calculations during multiplayer games in the past (sometimes it would get out of sync with the other player).  If Max Football ever get multiplayer capability, I would think messing with the play clock like that is problamatic.

Well, in that case it would still go to 10 seconds max and if it were an option, you could turn it off.

38 - I would also like to see a split in the attributes for blocking. Pass and Run block. They are two different skill sets.

39 - An injury rating. Some folks get hurt more than others. If injured, it would lower the number, a healthy season would increase it. 100 would be indestructible.

I agree with all your wishlist items, so far; however, the following of your wishlist items I would like to accepted with the following changes.

I would need number 32 to at most drop 7-seconds (if offense huddles) and 3-second (if offense does not huddle, hurry up) off the play clock. Another words, no automatically dropping the play clock to a set time.

With number 39 I disagree with having any player as indestructible, even the one's that have achieved 100-rating in those Performance Numbers that affect players getting injured. It is next to never, having a player that does not suffer an injury through out his career, let alone one-season.

That's the Endurance skill. It doesn't change with game play but the endurance skill is the modifier used to determine if a player gets injured.

34 - Spike the ball play to kill the clock

If you want to run out the clock, simply have the QB kneel down.

I mention this part for the sake of interest, but spiking the ball is illegal in Canadian rules as it would be an illegal forward pass.

A kneel down is used to run the clock out, while a spike is used to stop the clock.

It used to be for American rules too, but teams just had the QB throw to the tight end's feet.  It did the same thing, so they allowed the spike for ease of officiating it.

Marauders has it correct. In American football, you get to the line quick, snap and throw the ball into the ground to stop the clock.

Endurance = Injury. Even says to in the manual. I just assumed it was stamina.

40) This may have been brought up, but will future versions split the positions up? I would like to see at least guard and tackle on offense
Defense - inside/outside linebacker, corner and safety, Defensive tackle and end.

These positions, while similar, are very different. Safeties tend to be bigger, but slower than corners. They have to stop the run and sometimes cover the tight end.

Middle linebacker and outside are not the same.

I can live with not having right/left at the positions, but don't like all linemen, linebackers, d-backs as the only defensive positions.

41) It would also be great if there were a better import/export option that read a simple csv file for importing. You specify the team and league, it pulls in the players.
42) Pushing it [:'(] If it could import stats, that would be awesome.

Thanks!

33. (I think the wishlist item that follows might have been one of those past wishlist items that have had there threads deleted.) A per-draft pick customizable clock, customized by the leagues' commissioners, because there are members taking too much time to select players. Per-draft pick customizable clock would of course include hours, minutes and seconds, and allow for different or same times limits for each round of every draft.

34. Ability for FB teams' owners to wear headphones (connected to computer of course) and have proper software to provide play by play for CPU control teams verses other Human Owned teams and do there own TV & Radio programs for FB Teams (for other Human or CPU teams, in my opinion, would give what FB teams' owners broadcast more respect). Internet or just Off-Line (for those Off-Line Leagues) broadcasting would include windows' with CAM's videos of what the FB teams' owners look like , sound of the words spoken and text of every word, in almost real time*.

Leagues' commissioners could select this option and also select whether or not FB teams' owners would be locked out from being able to do their own FB teams' broadcasts. With the development of broadcasting through more medias and especially Internet Radio, TV and Video there should be enough software out there to make this possible. *-With saying this, I realize that software companies might be tiring to iron out the problem of making all broadcasts in exactly real time, then again I might be wrong.

Obviously, these are one of my future features of FB Gaming Games.

35. A Window with the game that shows all the tie-breakers for teams to make the playoffs, exactly as detailed as The NFL Media and NFL Website does.

36. Have a way of automatically managing the trades (obviously trading would have to allowed in MF) and reordering the draft order (for that draft and the future drafts that were affected) of draft picks, so that leagues' commissioners and/or the trading/traded owners do not have to manage or even worse write down (have traders draft for the trade receivers and vise verse) all draft picks that have been traded and reordering the draft order (for that draft and the future drafts that were affected) of draft picks.

37. While commissioners’ are creating the leagues/associations allow them to pick any number of rounds for each Players Entry Draft; however, obviously, for Leagues/Associations Starting Drafts the number of rounds cannot be changed, number of rounds for Leagues/Associations Starting Drafts are determined only by the amount of players required for all teams (of the Leagues/Associations) to fill their rosters.

Example, Players Entry Drafts could have 1-round, 4-rounds or 7-rounds or 12-rounds or 53-rounds or 85-rounds or 100-rounds or on and on and on, while Leagues/Associations Starting Drafts can only have 53-rounds for The NFL leagues/associations and rounded to 100-rounds for The USAn CFB’s Div. 1A, all the leagues/associations’ roster limits I know of.

38. **I was watching The North South All-Star Classic Game, and I was thinking man those players with their helmets covered with all their teammates’ programs logos are awesome *CFB idea, looks so cool and less important it makes sense for *CFB. It would be awesome for MF to do the same for their All-Professional Franchises or All-Star Programs or All-State Teams. Yes, I realize MF is intended for the world’s professional FB leagues; however, would it not be cool for The MF leagues that are created or come with the game? Also, since owners can create their leagues/associations at any FB level, it still could be use to create All-Star Programs or All-State Teams or etc.

*-Sure, I also thought that it is stupid (no benefit to the players/indentured servants <paid less than minimum wage>) to exchange their programs’ logos (if you think their coaches are not handing them a ton of their programs’ helmet logos, then think again) and place the other programs’ logos on their helmets. I mean, The North South All-Star Classic Game will not even allow them to place the players’ names on the back of their jerseys, yet they promote the logos exchanging tradition.**

I have been watching the board for a while now. I watched GW since he came in.

My question is why are you so cranky? Who made you so bitter? The industry is so evil and you are the only person that can save the people from the evil industry. This is almost all I hear from you. I am real concerned with the tone you often take.

When is this game your taking about coming out, and if it is coming out, why worry about the rest of the games? You should be so busy with yours you don't have time to worry about some other game. Every time I see you name connected to a post, I know its going to be a long dragged out complaint fest. I just wish you would take it down a notch or thirty and just enjoy the game.

Dave and crew are doing a great job getting things changed and updated as the community finds new snags or ideas. One day it will be more of this and that, but for now, they have work to do.
