Kiwi fight back by laska2k4

Post by laska2k8 »

Hi,

that's my first attempt to make an AAR with CotA (patched) and before I start you must
know that:

- this is the first time I play this scenario
- I'm relative new to CotA, quite experienced in HttR but different engine
- I'm doing this to learn, expecially to receive critics and tips
- English isn't my motherlanguage, mistakes are on the corner.

ok, let's go..

My initial thoughts was to reach the Malene airport and the Point 107 while waiting the
first wave of reinforces (guns unit) to arrive.

1) II Fj Bn move up to Point 107
2) I Glider Bn go to airport
3) Luftlande Hq and IV Hvy Bn Hq stay in middle
4) 1 Arty Bty Fallsch move near in the light wood just to cover the whole map and to
detach from its Hq

D1 07:05

three hours later I gained control of the two objectives of the initial plan.

9th Fj Coy III take some casualties, I'm surprised to see enemy units at Kondomari, I thought
they were along the main road, but I spotted arty units, it's time to use first airstrike.

D2 04:00

After a night rest some small fights I try to advance to nearest objective. I think that my advance is much slower than real "blitzkrieg" so I have doubt to reach Platanias in time before scenario ends.
by the way..

- GJ Regt 100 try to go straigh to Pyrgos-Platanias road avoiding (as possible) to be slowered by fights along the walk.

- II FJ Btn and Luflande SturmRegt Btn (I Glider reattached) attack nearest enemy just to distract them

- The three companies at East head to Platanias

The End

At last I had a marginal victory...

GJ Regt 100 successfully occupied Pyrgos-Platanias road toegether with II FJ regt & GJ 100 regt.
I sent Geb Prn Bn 95 to Platanias as soon as possible but it didn't reach the position in time to capture the objective.

Ciao!

Ok here we go.
I'd have pushed forward more aggressively. While your troops had only 113 casualties, they barely accomplished their mission. It looks like you're holding back around 2 Bns at Pyrgos, if I'm correct, although they would've been valuable for the task to drive off enemy forces at Platanias, or in the middle. 2-4 detached companies at Pyrgos to form a defensive perimeter would have been sufficient..... also, try detaching artillery units, and use them to soften enemy strongpoints, or bombard enemy units (dug in) that appear to slow down the advance.

Pyrgos would have been a good base for your arty units. You might want to detach mortar units in the future, several (detached) mortar units placed along the road would have done a terrific job at dealing with those enemies who are coming back to occupy the main road, your main supply line in this scenario.
You might want to have a few rear guards at night though, to make sure the main road is being kept clean, and to ensure that the mortar units don't get surprised.

My 2 cents
