desktop crash

Getting a lot of desktop crashes. Sometimes I can play several turns before it happens and other times the game crashes even before it can finish loading a saved game. I do have the latest patch and have tried the 1.2.26 Beta update. My comp more than meets the min. system requirements. Can it be this game is just not compatible for 64bit windows?

Nothing but crashes fro me also. I can't play more than 7-10 turns then ctd and game over, can't get past that point.

I can still play the game, just have to use the save game option quite often - like both at the beginning and ends of turns as well as in the battles.

The game is not compatible with 64 bit windows.  There are a few threads on this.
