Supply wagons in detailed battles

Post by Zort »

Not sure if these has been mentioned:

In one battle the union attacked me with his supply wagons (I had not attacked them until they moved forward of their lines), they continuously moved forward of their lines for me to kill.

Second, when a battle was set up, all my supply wagons were placed between my two forces in the front line (they were holding the center) and the AI went after them before I got a chance to move. Is it possible to get the wagons to start behind their divisions?

Finally I have seen attacking units rout when I press the fire button then show up 10+ hexes behind enemy lines.

Sorry I do not have any saved files of these issues. Thanks.

The supply wagons starting right by the enemy is annoying.  I mentioned it in a previous thread and just hope it gets looked at.
As for the routing units......I think they sprout wings [:D] but it happens so must be a game feature?

Supply caissons controlled by the AI should move toward areas of the map in which units need supply; were there AI units in the direction of their motion?

Routing units move toward their own retreat area, they do receive a slight movement bonus (since they don't have to pay for changes in facing while they move) and so do move faster than other units in general.

Hi Eric,

I was referring to player supply wagons. They often start within range of enemy units and get destroyed within the first couple of turns.

I looked this over based on your report and, by golly, the caissons were starting with the wrong y value -- the offset had the wrong sign in some circumstances.  I fixed, and in a quick test, it seems that the wayward caissons are now starting properly behind their own lines.  (It wasn't every caisson that was starting off in the wrong spot, the caissons that appear with military groups -- which are the majority of caissons -- were working properly; it was only the bonus caissons that sometimes had the wrong offset.)  Thanks!

Thanks for that Eric [:)]
