Assigning Generals

Post by JHopkins19 »

Total newbie question, but I can't figure out how to assign Generals. In the game options "use Generals" is turned on, but "unit Attributes" is turned off, does that affect anything?

Also, how do I embark and disembark troops? I have 20,000 men on my First Navy and cant figure out how to get them off.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

You click on the General and then open a container and add him.

As for landing as I recall you open the fleet container click the land force and then click an adjacent coastal province.
Favoritism is alive and well here.

Have you gone through the Flash tutorial linked from the game menu yet? I think that's a good interface intro and there's a large section in the manual that goes over this too.

Here's the explicit way to do it:

Left click to select the general you want. Right click on the container (i.e. an Army) on the map that you want to assign the general to. That will open a list of what's in that container. Choose the spot where you want him (i.e. to command the army, you want him at the Army level, for a division you want him at the division level). The cursor will become a down arrow when you're over a container that he can be attached to. Just left click there and you should see him appear in the list.
Also, how do I embark and disembark troops? I have 20,000 men on my First Navy and cant figure out how to get them off.

Right click on the Fleet/Army stack to open it. Left click on the topmost land unit container, then move the mouse to an adjacent land province. You'll see the cursor change to say "unload". Left click there to unload the land units.

Thank you for the help, I thought I might be able to skip the tutorial b\c I'm relatively a veteran at these types of games, but it sounds like I should go back and run through it. Thanks again.

To embark you have to have the fleet in the same province as the army, then select the army and left click on the fleet, if the fleet has the capacity (three brigades per ship) the army will load.

Another way to disembark is to attempt to move the fleet into the province you wish to unload to, ie with the fleet adjacenct and selected left click on the enemy province, and the army unloads.
