4.5 - 5.1 upgrade problem

Post by Reimund »

Greetings,

I've tried twice to upgrade from v.4.5 to 5.1 but have run into some troubles when installing. Both times I have received the following message about 3/4 of the way through installation:

C:\MatrixGames...\SND\stream\vid998.smk
A decompression error has been detected. (#7).
File CRC mismatch - Data integrity error.

I have tried to ignore it and see if the game would work, but everything works on the main menu with the exception of the 'Play World At War' button.

Is this a problem that can be easily fixed? Or would it help if I just deleted everything and downloaded the ENTIRE 5.1 version instead of upgrading from 4.5 - 5.1?

Any help is much appreciated!

Hello

You already found one way of fixing, namely downloading the whole game and installing from it. Or you could go to the spwaw download page and download just the vid998.smk file (60 megs) and place it in the snd\stream subdirectory. That should get you back to business.

Many thanks for the advise! I'll just download the vid998.smk file seperately and I guess that should solve all problems.

Cheers!

Thats is exactly what I had to do also. One additional problem I had which I have not been able to solve. When playing a solitaire game and its the computers turn it crashes to the desktop. I hope you don't run into this problem. I was attempting a 4.5 to 5.1 upgrade.
