Wonder why January 14th or 15 ?????

Post by m10bob »

I have always wondered why the Americans in particular are deluged by approx 100 much needed AK's and TK's in the middle of Janauary '42..I mean, you would think the nation would be absolutely riled by the events of Dec 7th and go out of their way to get ships to war ASAP, but why all of these ships FINALLY become available at 'Frisco on this one date (in vanilla and all the mods I have played).

Oh, don't get me wrong, the ships are very much needed, and a few ships do come in on other dates before this, but why 100 ships on this one date??
Is it somebodies birthday? Maybe the mother of one of the designers??
I'm ignorant of any bill passing on that date to free up the ships??
Any ideas, or was this just a matter of convenience for the original OOB's that was meant to be "spread-out" and just never gotten around to??????[8|]

Probably had to be armed. Consider it their first refit.

Maybe a removing the ships from the reserve status, made them operational, man them, arm them and sail them?

I've always figured it to be time to outift and crew the ships, and then transit time from the East Coast via Panama.  You have to assume all these ships were not already fueled up, fully crewed, and organized into one great big TF, just waiting for Pearl Harbor to set sail for SF.  [:D]

Its because the programmers figured, "These ships become available in Jan '42.  Okay, we don't want to bother looking up or programming the specific days in January so we'll just make them all available in the middle of the month.  There, done."

You will see the same 'every ship arrives on the 15th' surge every month of the game as the Allies.

Convenience Bob. IRL, Over 78% of US ships in the Pacific from Dec '41 thru Dec '42 were 10 - 12 knot merchies built in 1917 - 1922.

SImple reason the quartemaster at San Fran was told to round up 100 ships not 98 not 95. SO he waited and when he had 100 he released them to the Navy. SImple[X(]
