Zone Coverage

Post by 22sec »

Does zone coverage work correctly? i've noticed defenders in zone coverage will continue to cover the receiver as he moves out of the zone. I'm pretty sure this isn't correct.

That is correct, and it is similar in Maximum Football.

If there is no one defending the next zone, a defender will keep with the player.

That's correct.

If there is no defender in the next zone, or the receiver is moving into an area where there is no zone (say out the back of the deepest zone) the defender will go with him. The defender needs to do this to ensure that the receiver is covered, otherwise you'd simply have receivers go out the back of zones and be left un covered. It would be pretty easy to break the system if defenders didn't do this.

If the receiver is going into a covered zone, then the defenders switch off.

thanks
