Game mess

Post by mingohh »

I wonder how is the game handling if i am sending a airstrike with 24 zero 24 val and the cap over my taskforce is set to 12 zero and i am surprice of and enemy airstrike at the same time the emergency said i launch 36 cap, and the strike i had build has taking off and on rute to enemy carrier they pass trow the enemy red dot under the enemy attackrun now is the 24 zero still in the airstrike i orderet or are they use to cap all of them. because the schreen tells me that my cap is 36 and that dont add up. How can i see if my aircover is remove from my airgroup. my airstrike was airborne when the SBD jump me. AND when i reach the enemy carrier the val was massakre by enemy cap lost 12 to cap 4 to AA that had 12 wildcat as cap,It seem like the number of fighters onbord a vessel is the same reguardless that 24 is on strike and when you have to handle airbases and carrier is massive battles then is very difficult to se how many cap the carrier or airbase have to protection when it show all fighters assigned to it. AND PLEASE LOOK at the setting for Destroyers they can take more punicment than a carrier or battleship i had 3 torpedo hits on a DD and 4 Black Point 1 torpedo hit on BB and 1 black and 3 flammes the same happens with bomb hit no destroyer had armour setting and the Yamato has 15 in belt and 4 in deck this is to often that a DD can take 2-4 torpedo hits and still be fit to fight. If your testers checks the various scenario they can see for them self. [:)] how is it going with next patch cant wait[;)]
Sorry for my english

Just on the question of dame there are two points to make.

Firstly, WWII was fought just once, we are collectively refighting it thousands of times, so there's just a much greater opportunity for unusual results to occur.

Secondly, even when it was fought just once, the war produced some very strange results. Take for instance the hunt for the Bismarck. The Bismarck sunk the Hood with one 15" shell, yet a pack of British battleships couldn't sink the Bismarck and she had to be finished off with torpedoes.

If we constrain our combat system to only produce 'expected' results then neither of those real world results, and many more besides, could not happen. Instead, we should just expect the unexpected and realise that luck will even out over time.

My understanding of the CAP problem is that escorting fighters that are actually in the air on a strike mission, or striking themselves, will continue on that mission. Those that are in the arm/fuel/launch cycle or just stowed will be diverted to emergency CAP and the system will try to launch them as CAP before the incoming strike arrives.

The CAP slider is just trying to show that you are in an emergency CAP situation, not how many planes are actually on CAP. Even if a strike wasn't leaving as a strike was detected, there is no guarantee that there would be enough time to launch all the fighters carried, especially early in the war with rudimentary or no radar.
