Real Player Imports In 1.71: Good Stuff

Post by KG Erwin »

So, I re-did the 1947 template for 1.71, using 40-man rosters, and there are subtle changes in the ratings. I have yet to actually play it, but it seems to be more historical than in 1.70h. In my previous 1947-48 replay, I had noticed a tendency for players who had very limited playing time to be better than they should have, and conversely some veterans didn't do as well as they should have.

There is a downside to this: for historical seasons prior to say 1970, you might wanna stick with 35-man rosters. Shaun did explain this in the 1.71 release notes. With 40 men say in 1925, there are gonna be quite a few fictionals, for obvious reasons.

I already knew what pitfalls would be involved, but I lobbied strongly for the change, and I'm very glad he did it. [;)]

The big difference: injuries (at least in the modern era) won't be as potentially crippling for both the AI and human managers. With the minor-league reserve extended to 15 players, there is more flexibility in roster management. Thus you shouldn't see the AI using starters on two days' rest, which only compounded the injury issue.
