Indoor touch back

Where does the ball go in a indoor touch back? I thought it was the 5, but the game puts the ball on the 10 sometimes.

Hi.

The game will always put the ball on the 10. There was some discussion about this about a year and a half ago. People wanted it on the 10.

thanks

This varies from indoor league to indoor league in the real world, so it was discussed with the community in the forum.

Because the field was half the size of a standard American field, it ended up that the ten yard line was selected which is half of the standard 20 yard line.  The ten yard line also cuts down on safeties.

I would like to add to this about Indoor Touchbacks.  To this date, I know that almost all Indoor leagues have it placed on the Offensive 5 Yardline.  Although it makes since to place it on the 10 yardline (half the distance compared to U.S. Football rules) I think the theory on this is to help the defense out a little to force the offense to drive the ball all the way down the feild more and encourage longer range Feildgoals (at least in theory).

This is just what I understand why most (if not all) Indoor leagues place it at the 5 yardline.
