CSV Ron vs Larry

Ron Rigelhof is playing the NVA side and I'm playing the Allies this time. We're using CSV 4.0 and all of the optional rules ( #1 the Allies can't use hex possession to tell where the enemy units are.....I'm also not using the supply toggle for the same reason. #2 the provencial VC units can't leave their province unless and until the provincial capital has been subdued into friendly hands. )

Some of these turns will be CLASSIFIED and if they are then Ron shouldn't read that turn. I'll be reviewing the turns from time to time to declassify them and turn 1 isn't classified 'cause Ron already knows where all the Allied stuff is. When the turn is unclassified I'll send Ron an email telling him so.

Ron caught me off guard, asleep at the wheel and I neglected to set some aircraft on AS missions and the very first combat that called for some CS saw 2 of my aircraft squadrons shot down. Whoa. Other than that it's a good game so far.

I tried playing against the NVA PO and I must say for the record that having a playback ( PBEM ) is MUCH better because the PO's screens flick by so quickly you can't get much intell from watching. I can grab screenshots from the PBEM playback and construct intelligence estimates ( pictures ) from them. They tell you which way the enemy unit was moving sometimes, not always. Those units that stay in friendly hexes don't have any depiction and you're told only that an enemy unit is moving ( somewhere on the screen I guess ).

Ron is doing a good job of keeping me guessing where he's going to appear next and my ARVN units can't keep up with all the movement(s) so far. Several times I'm presented with an enemy unit that I can see but can't pursue because of the lack of manpower. When the Allied buildup starts in earnest that situation will go away ( I hope ).

The NVA have captured Khe Sanh and the ARVN 1st Div is in no condition to contend with them
so they take up defensive positions near Con Thien and await further attacks:

The ARVN 9th Div surrounds and attacks the VC unit that captured Vi Thanh:

Units from the ARVN 2nd Div takes up blocking positions around the NVA unit that assaulted
an airfield south of Hoi An:

As much as the ARVN dudes would like to destroy the VC 502nd Reg they don't have
the manpower to surround these guys. The best I could do was fly some airborne rangers
into Cao Lanh to reinforce the garrison there already:
