Tactical Battle Graphics

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

Tactical Battle Graphics

Post by augustus »

I've been looking at the graphics in the AARs, I'm really excited that you added brigade-level combat. Even though a Napoleonic brigade isn't the same sort of thing as an ACW brigade, I was wondering if you'd include that style of unit graphics like those in FOF, at least for the brigade level battles. I was never really happy with either set of icons in the tac battles of the original Crown of Glory, and while they'll do for division level combat, I think the more detailed graphics of FOF will be much better for brigade level battles.

I've discussed this recently in another thread here, so I'll give you an abbreviated response: sadly, much as we'd like to add FOF-like sprites to COG, it would have taken a very large investment in graphics and programming time/money, and we decided instead to use that for the improved map, the addition of naval detailed combat, and various other improvements.
