Uniforms - Help needed from the pros

Post by Frido1207 »

Hi all,

Well i´ve made some fictional uniforms for my league & run into some problems. See added pic.
So i need some advices from our graphic pros.
This is espacially true as i plan to make the best of them publicity. [X(]
Ahem, after a quite harsh comment from gary
(( tm.asp?m=1936756&mpage=2
(gary: "And on that note, I really wish that people would release the stuff that they make...not necessarily leagues, but playbooks, profiles, etc. Im not sitting on anything. I share it if I got it. If someone has an updated playbook, share it. New stadium, share it. Thats what kind of game David made,..."))
i feel obliged to share them with & as a tribute to our community.[8|]

I know nobody needs more fic unis, as there are lots of them & great ones.
But i´m not a programmer & cannot develop a usefull tool.
So that´s what i can do atm.

Note: its a wip. So i might change some minor things.

Advices & feedback are welcome.

There is a way to reduce the U9 numbers, but it is a bit tricky (for me anyway).

As for the side stripe, it looks OK. I'd need a few more up-close angles to tell what's wrong with it.

TH1207, it's the pits.

The front graphic texture wraps into the armpits and that border area.

Just color that area of the texture in with what you want it to be.

It you think that is a bit funky, you should try shoes, gloves, and arms.

Right lets see if I can answer

First, yes you can resize the numbers on the shoulders but you tend to get the pink showing around the edge
so the best way to do it, is to flood fill the nasty pink with the colour of your choice first, then resize them
that way any overlap is in the correct colour and not god awful pink.

next - under the arms
this part stretches more at the front than on the back
how I get around it is:
look for the seem that runs across the jersey
underneath the seam colour out your line for around 18 pixels
that way the side line doesnt run on into the arm pit and into the sleeve
like this:

if your uniform has a wider side line/stripe
you have to be a little more thoughtful with it
because just colouring it out on a wider line will look nasty and be very visible
fortunately for you and anyone else who doesnt already know,
I already figured out away around it and it goes like kinda like this:

Image
looks really ugly on the flat graphic but works a treat on the 3D model

starting from the seam draw back in your line (one pixel thick)
then draw in another line but stop 4 pixels short of the seam
then another and stop 8 pixels short of the seam and so on, in 4 pixel increments
so you end up with a spike ontop of the side stripe,
which will run just infront of the sleeve without actually bleeding into it.

Hope that Helps, Good Luck

Excellent advice Mykal, as always.

that way any overlap is in the correct colour and not god awful pink.
It can also be a good idea if you are doing different font types for the main (big)jersey number also.
