A Question To ask Before I Buy Guns Of August

Post by AKAGI7137 »

I am on the verge of buying Guns Of August taking adavantage of the Matrix holiday discount. Before I Do this though I note that there have been concerns raised in relation to the game's manual. Sure enough we have a new electronic version available for download - see this thread:

tm.asp?m=1666194

However I am a games collector and would want the most up to date version of disk and manual.

So can somebody tell me. I am in the UK - if I buy this game now, i.e Dec 08, has the new print run gone through - see the above thread. Will I get an UP TO DATE PRINTED manual with my purchase or are we still working with old stocks.

I know that everything is downloadable but as a collector I would rather wait than get something out of date.

I await to hear.

Sorry to press on this folks but I am obviously eager to get an answer on this before the holiday discount expires. Surely of all the people that have read this post somebody must have bought this game recently.

If that is the case could they not confirm where they reside US or UK (to confirm the distribution point) and whether there was any date on their printed manual. The revised pdf manual was released in the Members Area on Jan 4th 2008 so any date on their printed version will be a pretty good indication of what print run their newly received copy is - old or new.

I am not sure computer wargames will become collectibles. I do not think most of us are collecters in that sense,,,and I still miss my collection of paper wargames.
Printred manuals for computer games will always be out of date about one hour after they roll off the presses.
Sorry if thats no help.

I know what you are saying but in this instance I know that a revised manual has been written and I know (as confirmed elsewhere) that at some stage such will become part of the next print run.

The question is whether I will be getting that new print run or the old one for my money - I just want to know that I am getting the most up to date version that I possibly can.

Hopefully somebody will come back.
