Now I know why Lee never attacked Washington. I just got whipped when after 3 strategic victories in Virginia, I decided to move north. With 46 infantry, 8 cavalry (Stuart), and 19 artillery) I attacked Washingtion and suffered 70% losses, and retreated all the way back to Richmond. It happened in August 1862.

Assuming it was upgraded to a Fort 2 and that the defender had a sizeable army, it can really hurt. The only way to really take Fort Level 2 areas effectively is to cut them off from supply first to weaken the defenders before attacking.
