Too Few Players -- Where I've Gone Wrong

Post by KG Erwin »

My historical league uses 40-man rosters. I did this simply to maximize importation of real players. However, in looking over the roster/injury lists, I can plainly see that the AI is getting confused and playing too many worn-out guys. 40 players (including the minors), simply isn't enough. The obvious problem is that the further you go back in history, the more that fictional players get inserted into the mix. This is something I wanted to minimize.

However, given the comparative ratings/Lahman import system in PS, I am unable to come up with a reasonable alternative.

I am considering abandoning the "old-time" format and moving forward to the modern era. In this format, a 60-man roster is perhaps feasible. Of course, if I were to do that, finances would have to be introduced (ugh!).

I'd start in 2005, with the majors in their current configuration, and take over the Pittsburgh Pirates. I'm gonna think this over carefully.

Edit: now that Shaun is talking of issuing an "Interim Patch" for PS in lieu of the wait for DDSBB, I'm putting this idea "on hold".
