LostVictories: First Scenario is there a radio message?

Post by lparkh »

The briefing mentions I should expect radio broadcasts when I get to choosing options during briefings. My sounds seems to be working (I hear music) but hear no radio broadcast (which they say is very important in general to listen to). Should I have?
SP 8.403 versions of SP:Generals. Not enhanced.
Thanks,
Lin

Radio broadcast sound files 11xxx.wav (where xxx is the corresponding node number) should be installed in the SPWAW\SND directory.
The Lost Victories Sound Patch of Mar 2002 updates some of them.
They began to play when "Read reports and select option." is clicked.
At least the first one seems to work under SPWAW 7.1 and 8.403.

Thanks. FYI it looks like these files are stored in MegaCam/SND folder in the generals edition. The sound files are already patched it appears. SO maybe the first scenario doesn't have a radio broadcast (though you would think the launch of barbarossa would definitely merit one...).

p.s. darn rereading your note it seems yours does work. Hmm maybe I just play the file by manually! (if I can figure out in future the id of my scenario... :-( )

The only way I ever got any MegaCampaign sounds at all was to put the MegaCam sound files in the main sound directory (SPWAW\SND), not SPWAW\MegaCam\SND. Maybe Generals edition is different.

11001.wav is the first radio broadcast. ("Kampfgruppe Vebber, acknowledge!")
They are numbered by node number, not scenario number.

For node numbers and scenario numbers in order to find a sound file to play manually, see:

Thanks for guidance. OK so I am node 2a scenario 6. So I tried playing sound file 26. Sounds like a german leader talking in german. Therefore perhaps not right for a scenario. Am I doing it right in terms of decoding?
I found node and scenario in bottom right of map for the scenario. I did get the excel sht you recommended too.
Thanks

Moving the sound files into the main SND folder worked. Thanks!

Glad you got it working!

The radio broadcast for Node 2 (Scenario 6,7,8) is 11002.wav; for Node 3 (Scenario 9, 10) is 11003.wav; etc.

Sometimes the broadcast is only a German speech or musical anthem, and sometimes the English orders are at the end of the broadcast.
