Probably too early to tell, given that the final installer hasn't been finished.

With the understanding that this HAS NO BEARING ON THE FINAL PRODUCT, our current build tips the scales at just around 500 Megs.

Didn't mean to shout, just wanted to be clear that while we're currently running around 500 Megs, Matrix might decide, on their own prerogative as publishers, to add more stuff to the release installer.

WITP is over 1 gig in size. Since AE is an ad on for WITP I assume AE saves a little bit of size due to that? Or have things changed since I last checked and AE is now a standalone product?

I just hope that digital river's servers can bear the load and seed with a reasonable bandwidth :)

WITP is not over 1 Gig in size as far as the installer itself goes. It may be over 1 Gig after you install it, but the installer itself is much smaller.

AE is not an "add-on", folks. It is its own separate game, which requires ownership of WITP. It does not share files or install on top of WITP.

Which makes one wonder why you need WitP in the first place besides the fact that you can make your customers pay for two products.[&:]

Hm... I also start to think that we'd rather be more happy to have AE discount for WITP owners and not WITP discount for new AE owners.

I hope so. It could end up being a long day on the release day just waiting on a chance to download.

I am fed up with this kind of crap.

Wargaming is a hobby. You buy what you want at the price offered. If you can't afford it, maybe you should forget about having a hobby and go find some hunks of busted glass, polish them into vaguely round shapes, and shoot marbles.

Tell you what. Witp/AE too rich for your blood? Go buy the next competitive product.

So, I turned the other way,
And I carry on anyhow.

I have had WitP for 5 years now. I have NO personal gain what so ever from AE needing or not needing WitP. But hearing that AE in no technical way needs WitP in order to run but that it is required in order for it to run sounds like a complete and total money grab. Hell if I was Matrix I would lie or not even comment about that aspect of the game since it makes them look pretty bad.
And I understand wargaming is a niche hobby. That is why I have little problem spending $70 on a game (and its expansion) that is less polished and 'primative' next to games produced by studios with 300 person crews but charge less.

No just someone using a little bit of buisness logic. It looks really bad to tell your customers that they need to purchase a prior product in order to use a new product but the new product in no way needs the old product.

Hell if it makes you feel better they should have made it where the two games share files or code or something so that they at least have some sort of excuse to double charge new customers.

Your apology for my rudeness is accepted. Now, how about you go undermine the companies that make computer wargames further by not buying directly from them?

Then, complain some more about the lack of quality in what you are getting.

Obviously, you have not been paying the slightest bit of attention during the entire span of the AE development project. This was undertaken largely by volunteers under some Matrix supervision as an attempt to craft one final - and I do mean final - improvement to WitP (WPO was a similar adventure). Years of realization of WitP's design and programming shortcomings led to this, a grand effort at giving the faithful the best that will ever result from this game system. For cheap.

And ***edited*** like you have to ***edited*** about what it costs. Why are you in this hobby at all? Matrix (and a handful of other small efforts like HPS and AGEod) are all we got.

You want to screw them out of their last dime? Then what you gonna buy?
