MCNA campaign scoring

Post by philbo »

Hi guys. I'm hoping someone has seen this or had it happen to them so that I can get an explanation. I am using version 7.1 and MCNA is the only mega campaign I currently have loaded. I was playing the Antelat scenario in MCNA. At the start of the scenario my campaign score was 19 points. I finfished the scenario and achieved a moderate victory. However, the scoring screen said 0 points for the moderate victory and it actually deducted 1 point andd now I only have 18 points for my campaign score. Can anyone tell me what is going on? I win a scenario and get points taken away:mad: What did I do to make Rommel so mad?:( Seriously, if anyone knows what happened please let me know.

Thanks,

Thanks gmen, not exactly the reply I was looking for.:) But it would explain why Rommel was so ticked with me.

I've had this happen during Mega Camps. The bad news is that once the game routine gets on the incorrect scoring trick, I think it is written into the .dat file and may well continue deducting one or more points for every "victory" - maybe if you lose badly it will add five or six plus points !

The good news: Uninstall everything in the Matrix Games folder, via Windows "Add-=Remove Programs". Scrub the registry to make sure all references to Matrix and WAW have been removed. Compact the reg with Scandisk /fix or shareware equivalent. Defrag the HD.

Reinstall the MC's and patches. Restart the MC. When I do this, the scoring seems to be OK. In fact, LV is currently adding SIX points for a DV, up from the old five points, so at long last I seem to be doing something right.

All kidding aside, the sad truth seems to be that once the game decides to score a battle incorrectly in a campaign, it will continue to do so. About your only option is restarting - or (seriously) the above, which is a good idea to do periodically anyway. This happens not just with MC - used to happen pretty regularly with the other campaigns.

Thanks Bing. That really bites, I wish there was some other way.:( I'll try what you suggested and see if that works.

Did you backup your saves, you might bve able to continue with an old save. I think but not proven this problem stems from something within the saved game causing a corrupted routine, it's worth a try before having to reinstall everyhting.

Gmenfan: In MCNA playing straight through got a Draw on the 10th scenario, claimed my leaders were injured (never happened) lost 2 points, previous draws awarded 2 points (actually you lose a total of 4 points, 2 for draw not awarded plus 2 lost=4) tsk tsk tsk:mad: :(

Sorry guys, I'm at a loss. The only thing I can think of is the core.dat issue and the new mech.exe and OOB's, it could be very similar to the original lost leader issue in Lost Victories.
