A tab cumbersome - put your right foot in, take your right foot out

Post by MarkShot »

Maybe I am missing something ... I often do.

Okay, I have my platoon scattered. Now, I put my HQ up in the Church steeple to spot. However, I still have one squad that has a ways to go to reach a defensive position.

But when, my HQ are inside, I cannot issue a RUSH command. So, I have to UNMOUNT them. Then, I can issue a RUSH command. One of 0 meters. Thus, I only need to adjust the squad who is out of position with yet another RUSH command. Then, I can MOUNT my HQ back into the Church.

This must be a version of the Hokey Pokey for war gamers. :)

If anyone knows a better way of doing this, then please let me know. Thanks.

There was some discusion shaortly after game came out about being able to use the Rush command for only some units in platoon. But I dont know of any other way to accomplish what you want.

In similar situations, I've used the engage-->Target command for unit in church (which also allows you to target enemy units and engage-->move command for units still trying to get to the Church. If you use the Rush command for unit in the church, i dont think it will have as many opportunities to fire to provide covering fire.

(But I'm not a terribly good player either! )

I already have the HQ unit in the Church steeple which is all I wanted from the Church. I assume that the elevation improves my sighting.

I was trying to sprint one remaining squad to the side of the river with the enemy ... a wooded defensive location close to the Bridge. I figure this to be a good position.

Although the rushing prevented everyone from firing, the enemy was distant anyway and I was laying down a wide barrage upon their advancement. I do believe I attrited their numbers.

Now, I have everyone in good shooting positions and a cross fire as well.

Time to pin the enemy and call in some accurate arty. Fire for effect! :)

The way you are doing it --unmount HQ squad, set to rush (a little distance), remount, rush subordinates to where ever-- is the way I do it.

I wish the patch fixes were out for you new guys...

I see in your sig you know ins and outs about COTA etc. I just played (got done like just now) a PzC:K Fallshirmjager btn takes rear of city defended by Russ INF btn supported by MG guns and some armour mission on that map above, FIXED by me (note south west tress!), with FJ models by me and PzBuk ATG model by me.

I want the write up in the briefing to be a about a real FSJG battle but I don't know any.

Being as you know about FJ stuff do you know any FJ take city defended by Russ INF and some tanks?

My strengths are systems design, interfaces, game mechanics, and gaming guides. (You'll see my Mini-Guides in the HTTR and COTA forums.) In many ways, this corresponds to my professional background.

My weaknesses are history and real military knowledge. Sorry.

If you post over there, I am sure you will get a bite who might be able to help you.

The following link has a nice little summary about the Fallschirmjaeger on the Eastern Front, perhaps it might be a starting point:
