Post by comte »

Ok This is gonna be my second AAR ever. My first was the Coral Sea Scenario for AE. I am gonna try my hand against the AI of WPO in the Grand Campaign hopefully when I get some Experience I can play against a real human opponent [:)]

The Setting

Japan has Decided that 1922 is the year to strike at the west, The Weakening Japanese Economy and lack of access to Oil has led the Japanese to gamble on a war to conquer resources for the Empire. The Imperial Government needed this war to stop the Disillusion amongst the people of Japan due to the weakening economy. The Government has gambled on the western powers weakened by the Great War to not put up much of a fight. Japan Declared war on the USA on May 31, 1922. Japan has decided that to take its goals in Asia it must first defeat the USA which represents the greatest threat to Japanese Hegemony in the region. President Warren G. Harding plagued by the recent Teapot Dome Scandal has vowed to defeat Imperial Japanese aggression in the Far East and has mobilized the fleets of the USA to counter Japan. War Plan Orange is put into affect a new war has started!

It's good that you're paying attention to oil. Remember, WPO is brutally realistic. Either you need to be ready to anchor your ships in 1924 or capture Dutch East Indies or force a Jutland at all costs.

My god, I never really thought about Warren Harding being President in 1922. There should be some sort of in game penalty for that, like maybe the Nevada can´t come because Harding lost her in a poker game.

I gotta keep an eye on logistics I'm playing the Allies so I shouldn't worry about running out of anything [:)] I have started my first convoys of Fuel to Pearl Harbor to keep the fleet going.

Yeah kind of unfortunate having Harding as the President as the war starts but this could be a sort of political god send for him taking attention away from the Tea pot dome scandal. The Navy is gonna need those oil reserves now that war has broken out. About halfway through Calvin Coolidge will take over [:D]

Early Moves

The USA has mobilized its west coast fleets and has ordered 3 task forces of Battleships to Pearl Harbor. Also the Navy using convoy techniques learned in the Great War has set up two convoy's of Fuel to be delivered to Pearl Harbor. The Naval forces in the Philippines have been put on Alert. The Naval Dept has arranged to buy some fuel from the neutral Dutch Government to be sent to Manila. On the Diplomatic front the French and British governments have declared their neutrality, along with the Dutch, but have informed Washington through diplomatic channels that they will support US forces if attacked. President Harding has called for the people of the United States to come together in unity to defeat the Japanese aggresors. He has called for 500,000 volunteers to join the Army and Navy. In the state of California governor William Dennison Stephens has called called up the National Guard to defend the beaches from Japanese invasion. In the state of Washington several witnesses have reported seeing Japanese battleships off the coast. Also in Oregon witnesses have reported seeing Japanese air ships flying off the coast.

Philippines Violated by Japanese

Post by comte »

The Japanese have landed in the Northern Philippines Hopefully I can hold them off. I am moving most of my battleships to Pearl Harbor for now I'm thinking of moving the Marines to Wake Island and setting up a screen of subs there to keep a eye out for the Jap fleet. Also massive convoys of supplies and oil are heading for Pearl.

Most likely they will.  I would recommend sending yours in on a bombardment mission, as I've always seen a couple in port.  These will be the first stringers, so send a bunch of BBs in.

Battleships start to arrive!

Post by comte »

My battleship fleets sent on the first day of the war to Pearl are finally starting to make it, they will need some minor repairs and then they will be sent forward to Midway or Wake. They are trailed by a large amount of submarines that will begin patrolling west of Wake. I wish I had more cruisers right now to scout with but I'm guessing those are a few months off.
