Beta: Returning raids do 180

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

Beta: Returning raids do 180

Post by harrappan »

Just a little Beta feedback.

The patch brings a lot of nice things to the game. The scrolling is now smooth and works well.

However, I've noticed a marked increase in the number of retreating raids that do a 180 and turn back towards their target. Although this has always occurred rarely, in the beta it seems to happen much more often.

I know you are putting a lot of effort into this and it is very appreciated. Keep up the good work.

Too sensitive and it drives me nuts!
But I guess I'll get used to it.

There is a setting under Game Options to slow the scrolling down if it is too fast/sensitive.

Harley or HS, I noticed something that may be of import. I noticed that bombers will do the 180 degree thing if I had moved around the way points during mission planning. But I haven't noticed them do a 180 if I didn't move the way points. Hope this helps, because this is a killer bug. [:(]

Ron has finally captured a save with this happening - it has taken several thousand turns for someone to capture a repeatable turn-back, so I'm on it at the moment.

That's great news, Harley. This bug was a big one I think.

hassle is, we killed it, then right at the end, it started popping up again, but, it was simi rare, now it is looking to being more common, we tracking it, and think we trapped it, so we can tell what is going on

RIGHT now, it looks like it is waypoint 3 on the trip home, as a work around, until we kill it (AGAIN), maybe try to make sure waypoint 2 and 3 are very close to each other

(of now that I say that, it will start happening elsewhere....)

but that may help some when it does happen

Sorry, but not just Outbound 3. Definitely also Outbound 2.

I know this is a tough one, but hopefully this can get a priority fix and a new Beta Patch issued fast so we can actually Play The Game.

Thanks.

What` s up with this ?[8|] Going on 2+ weeks ?

Surely it`s fixed at this point, and if it is then you guys and Matrix have an obligation to the people who bought the Game upon release in order to support you and Matrix to release another Beta Patch with the fix Now.

Or.....is Matrix up to their old tricks and waiting to pack other enhancements and minor fixes into a major patch so they don`t have to go to the time and trouble to do another installer for another Beta Patch or another large Patch down the road.

I consider the game unplayable as is, and it`s starting to look like those guys who said they would wait for the 2.0 Patch before buying were the smart ones.

It also seems the Forum is drying up because not everyone is interested in paying to Beta Test BTR. Most of us want to just Play The Game.

Yes, I`m upset.....

Rich - it's me holding things up, not matrix.

The turnback is fixed. The delay is that the main performance issue not addressed in the beta patch is the very slow play on highlight targets - I had to redevelop large sections of the engine drawing code to accomodate a new way of creating and displaying the information. The development is nearly done, I need to finish some things off this weekend, then we'll see what happens.

I don't know what the official matrix patching policy or schedule is - I just code...
