Graphics Problems

Post by SKillelea »

I received the game on Saturday and have encountered some graphics related problems.

Primarily, it manifests itself in two areas:

1) When I zoom in, the map becomes unreadable with vertical lines over everything. Also, the zoomed out map doesn't disappear and is shadowed over the already unreadable zoomed in view.

2) When there is combat or a sighting report in a hex, that hex gets the same vertical lines problem as mentioned above.

Neither of these makes the game unplayable, but it does make it a little less enjoyable and I would like to get it sorted out.

Latest Drivers

Post by SKillelea »

Ross,

I downloaded the latest drivers, and now it zooms in, but if I attempt to scroll, I get a hard lock-up and have to power down the pc. I do have DirectX 8 and I ran the diagnostic with no problems. I have a win98 Dell p3 500 with 256mb ram and an nvidia TNT2 based 32mb graphics card.

Lock-up...

Post by Erik Rutins »

Does it lock up when scrolling only in zoomed mode or also on the standard size map? What version of the drivers are you now running - manufacturer or Nvidia reference?

When you installed the new drivers, did you uninstall the old ones first or install the new ones on top?

Regards,

- Erik

I have the exact same problem. How did you fix this? Was it just the DirectX, or what? Please let me know. Love the game.

Best thing is go to the Dell site and search on video drivers. You can also go to nvidia'a site.

If you want a human to talk to, call Dell tech support.

When ever you upgrade video drivers....always delet the old first. You would think by now they could get it to a one click business. But believe....more head aches are caused by not removing the old before installing the new.

Worr, out

Thanks everyone:) Went to Dell and got the drivers and now I have Zoom:) Their walk through reminds you to uninstall the drivers. If I can do it, anyone can. :)
