1.02 - Population Growth Bug?

Post by SicTyrannis »

2760.02.02 Dag 3 - 11,460M Dag 1 - 2,041M Hirat 2 - 64M

2764.04.29 (4 years later!) Dag 3 - 22,390M Dag 1 - 18,464M (!) Hirat 2 - 4,742M (!)

Picked these 3 planets since they were my highest populated planets in 2764. In 4 years, my population basically quadrupled.

Were you also seeing a fair amount of population migration?

Low population planets will grow much faster than large ones, especially if you keep taxes low and luxury resources high.

Migration can also help a lot with growth at new colonies.

I don't think population migration was it. I had several other colony worlds, but they were just starting out. 99% of my population was in those 3 planets. None of the other races I was in contact with had large populations to migrate to my planets. I understand that smaller populations grow faster. This was growth on my largest planets. A quadrupling of population in 4 years. Which is, oh, about 100x the rate I would expect. Certainly helped dig me out of my economic hole though.
