3in mortars won't lay smoke

Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem is a highly enhanced new release of Close Combat, using the latest Close Combat engine with many additional improvements. Its design is based on the critically acclaimed Close Combat – A Bridge Too Far, originally developed by Atomic Games, as well as the more recent Close Combat: The Longest Day. This is the most ambitious and most improved of the new Close Combat releases, but along with all the enhancements it retains the same addicting tactical action found in the original titles! Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem comes with expanded force pools, reserve & static battlegroups, a troop point buying system, ferry and assault crossings, destructible bridges, static forces and much more! Also included in this rebuild are 60+ battles, operations and campaigns including a new enhanced Grand Campaign!

3in mortars won't lay smoke

Post by GaryChildress »

I'm on the very first battle. Forget the name of the map, just before Eindhoven. The Irish Guards are up against a Stug IIIG. I wanted to lay smoke with my two 3in mortar teams, however, I couldn't ever get the teams to fire smoke. They just sat there for minutes not doing anything. So I ended up trying a desperate attack on the Stug with a sniper to draw it's attention followed by a Sherman Firefly to try to kill it. I lost. [:(]

Did you happen to note the soldier monitor and the activity of the 3in mortar team? Sometimes if they are in a bad position they'll look for cover. Once they move they have to go through the set-up period. So it's possible something like that happened. However imo they shouldn't be jittery and constantly moving and re-setting up. Defeats the purpose of having them in the battle. So if you're seeing something more like the latter please take some detailed notes and pass the info along to me and we'll have a look at it. Like where they were deployed (element tile underneath the gunner), what kind of cover (although we can get that from the element name), if they were under fire or in LOS of an enemy unit. Thanks!
