Supply, HQs and Reinforcements?

The team behind the award-winning game Advanced Tactics is back with a new and improved game engine that focuses on the decisive early days of World War II! Decisive Campaigns: The Blitzkrieg from Warsaw to Paris is the first in an innovative series of operational World War II wargames that also include a strategic element. The Blitzkrieg from Warsaw to Paris simulates Germany’s military successes in Poland and France in 1939 and 1940 (including also a hypothetical “Sea Lion” invasion of Great Britain).

Supply, HQs and Reinforcements?

Post by Max 86 »

Could someone provide a brief explanation of how supply, HQ command and reinforcements work? Is it similiar to the AT model?

I guess reinforcements would definitely have to be different but I'm hoping that supply still goes thru HQs and that they provide command bonuses to attached subunits.

Personally this is exactly the direction I was hoping Vic would take! Mega-cool!

Supply is similar to AT in that supply comes from the top most HQ, eg OKH, then to the Army Group HQ, eg AGN, then to the Army HQ, eg 4th Army, then to the units. But the range now starts counting at the top most HQ. OKH is always the top and always gets the supplies for the round. Shorter supply lines are VERY important now.

HQ command is similar plus actual named commanders. Some Commanders get action cards to help troops under their command.

Reinforcements... is very different. You can "buy" reinforcement divisions with action cards and these show up at certain town locations. You can transfer units from HQ to HQ but there is a command penalty for doing this so it's not something you do often. There is no production. Each side gets a certain amount of Political Points (PP) per turn to spend on action cards.

Thanks for the quick response. DC:tBfWtP looks like a winner to me.

This is what I posted with regard to AT in the 'What Happened to AT' thread on June 20th. I couldn't be happier. I knew Vic would come up with something great! Count me in.[:)]

I would like this same exact game but with pre-defined divisional structures that have preset SFT types and numbers. The AI or player could buy a new division of some type (armor, inf) and, as is done now, buy replacements to refill the existing divisions (up to their preset SFT limits).

I'm looking forward to this game. I was a big fan of AT, though I havent been playing it much as I enjoy a bit more historical structure to unit compostions.

It looks like this release might be a good fit. And I know from past experience that Vic will do a good job of supporting it.

Thanks
Rick

Yes you can transfer units from one HQ to another but the HQ can lose some functions while it reorganizes. No there are no "adhoc" units.
