Scenarios Ceased to Load

Post by gagowen »

I recently purchased PC-Kharkov in the standard dvd version (v 1.01) and installed it first on 12/20/10. The program initially ran without any problems. I completed the Tutorial scenario and the first three scenarios in the Boot Camp campaign. However, after I began the 4th scenario in that campaign the program ceased to function normally. When I attempted to load a saved version of the 4th Boot Camp scenario I got as far as the screen that shows the progress bar as the scenario loads. It loaded the map and began to load the interface but appeared to freeze at that stage, with 3 1/2 red segments at the very left end of the progress bar. The loading process simply ended there, no matter how long I waited. The same malfunction occurred whenever I tried to load another saved scenario, any of the Set Games, or other campaigns. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game today (12/26/10) but the problem remains and the game is unplayable as a result.

I would be grateful for any advice you might offer to help get the game up and running again. I am attempting to include my DXdiag file as a message attachment.

To follow up on my previous message, how do I attach a file to one of these posts? It's not at all clear from the format of the screen provided to post messages to the forum. Thanks.

This is an attempt to send the DXdialog for my PC system as a message attachment, to support my previous query.

gagowen,

Once you have your dxdiag file using the instructions in this post: fb.asp?m=1770949

then compose a message, and you should see a clickage link just bwelow the message area that says "Click here to upload". Cick on there then using the window that pops up, navigate to the dxdiag file you created and click on it.

after it finishes uploading make sure you click on ok to post the message. (don't use the read x to close the msg box like I sometimes do.).

Also, another thing that might help is to look in the Panzer Command Folder in the Logs Folder and there should be and there should be a log file that you can look at. They are labeled by date, and the logfile has timestamps. the latest game activity is at the bottom of the file.

As far as the original problem you posted, I don't have any ideas. It's curious that it worked for 3 or 4 games then stopped.

Thanks

This is my third attempt to attach my current DXdialog file to a forum post on this topic, hoping it will assist in finding a solution to my problem with a "load interface freeze" problem.

I have uploaded the DXdialog.txt file from My Documents and it has supposedly uploaded successfully. Let us see.

Looks like you're running a Win 7 in 64 bit mode. That's the same as i'm running (though i'm testing PCO, not PCK).

I believe when you install PCK it asks if you want to install some .Net resources. If you played 3 scenarios, I'm not sure what would have changed, unless your computer did something to change you .Net files?

There are some temporary IE8 fixes in another thread in this tech support forum, but I thought they were only needed for the random battle editors.

You might also look at the forum for Panzer Comman Ostfront to see if anyone there has suggestion (quite a few folks there have PCK.).

When you uninstalled and reinstalled, did you reinstall (or let it 'fix') the .Net?

thanks

Thanks for your thoughts. I did choose to have the install program "fix" the .NET resources. Made no difference at all to my problem. In addition, I downloaded the "hot fix" .zip file to my PCK main folder and unzipped it there. Added five files to the folder but did not allow me to run either the random battle generator or the random campaign generator. The random battle generator initial window opens in incomplete form and I get a "script error" message. Similarly, the random campaign generator opens initially in what looks like its initial window, with no glitches. But attempting to proceed from there produces the same script error message.

I've posted all this with the Helpdesk, on 12/28, and hope to have some sort of suggestions from them in due time.
