Campaign Question

Post by Redmarkus5 »

Is it possible to continue a PC Ostfront campaign after losing a battle? I have always preferred that option, firstly because I'm not a very talented player, but also because IRL campaigns do of course continue even when you lose.

if you lose a battle, you now have the option to 'skip' the battle and continue on.

thanks

Yes, in Ostfront you can continue and skip past a battle if you lost that battle, rather than having to replay it until you win as it was in Winterstorm and Kharkov.

It would be nice if reinforcements were given after each battle according to the timeframe. Early in the war there were more reinforcements so if you did lose a battle and a lot of men you would get near to all your units replenished albeit with green troups instead of veterans. Then as the campaign progresses based on the timeframe once again you would get less and less and if you lost too many you would lose the campaign and get a score from that point. A ranking score from 5 star general down to buck private would be neat too. Mad Minutes 2nd Manassas sort of does it that way, if you lose too many men the battle is over and you get a score at that point.

In the historical campaigns, reinforcement and replacement rates are set based on the historical record, though you can choose whether to play at the historical level or get more generous replacements. The HQ Helper can also give you a boost to make sure you can keep going.

Great news - thanks. That will make a big difference, I think.

I'd like to see some 'historical' campaigns where the player is allowed to lose every battle but still 'win' the campaign by getting a better than historical final outcome. This allows better modelling of, say, Bagration with the human player as the Axis.
