New DW: Legends Public Beta v1.7.0.2 Available!

Post by Andrew Loveridge »

Hello All,

There is a new 1.0.7.2 Public Beta in the Members Club. It fixes many reported issues, including crashes, balance, diplomacy, etc., plus other improvements. All listed below, with a link to the 1.7.0.1 changes.

Please give it a try if you are interested and give us your feed back on these changes.

v1.0.7.2 Beta - November 29, 2011
CRASH FIXES[ul] - fixed occasional crashes when click on some options in diplomacy screen - fixed crash when load game with independent colony added via game editor - fixed bug where loading a savegame with different galaxy dimensions while in another game would sometimes crash - fixed rare crash when fleet loads troops - fixed various other rare crashes
GAME BALANCE AND RESOURCES
    - fixed problem where restricted resources were sometimes not being distributed properly - improved resource transport and distribution by freighters - rebalanced weapons damage to armor, especially when very high-tech armor - reduced number and tech level of ships in debris fields - increased minimum time between disaster events from 2 years to 4 years - empire policy setting ImplementEnslavementWithPenalColonies always off by default for player empire
DIPLOMACY AND TERRITORY
    - fixed Mining Rights so that no longer cause offense when building mining stations in same system as other empire's colonies - fixed pirate alliances so that allied pirates do not attack your ships - when attack pirates with an alliance, the alliance is automatically cancelled, allowing the pirates to attack you - fixed slavery offense not being reset when no longer enslaving foreign race
MILITARY SHIPS AND FLEETS
    - fixed occasional situations where unbuilt fleet ships were leaving construction yard before construction complete - fixed issue where automated military ships were not checking whether within fuel range when moving to a system in response to threats - fixed bug where fleets would occasionally head to top-left corner of galaxy when assign refuel mission using Action button - fleets now exclude tiny star bases (e.g. former pirate bases) when considering where to retrofit or repair
RESEARCH AND SHIP DESIGN
    - improved AI ship design to attempt to design cruisers and capital ships within current construction size limits - fixed bug where critical research successes or failures would sometimes happen to queued research projects (i.e. not current project) - fixed bug where AI would sometimes design monitoring stations without long range scanners
CHARACTERS
    - cancel transfer of characters to a colony when it changes ownership - prevents your characters from becoming stranded at enemy colonies when they are taken over
USER INTERFACE
    - add extra cycle option for D key: turn off shield bars - fixed mouse cursor to make consistent and not revert to other cursors - fixed inconsistent maintenance costs displayed in Designs screen, Design Detail screen and Ships and Bases screen - fixed inconsistent values shown in diplomacy screen for attitude (factors did not always add up) - fixed tooltips sometimes not appearing in Characters screen (Character skills and traits) - updated system influence image to be properly centered - updated some ship images to eliminate unwanted extra engine thrusters
MODDING
    - fixed crash when have more than 22 ship sets in theme - removed limits to design name families in designs.txt file (no longer 14)
OTHER
    - tweaked undocking after refueling so that military ships will attack nearby threats sooner - added logging to game startup to help diagnose startup crashes/problems, missing components, etc - AI will now never disband troops on ships that are manually controlled - fixed bug with calculations for race victory conditions of Oldest Mutual Defense Pact and Oldest Free Trade Agreement

First again [:D]

Good update! There's some stuff in there I didn't think you guys would seriously fix. Like AI Ship Design? Really? Thank you!

No mention of the horrible lag. Is there a confirmation that things are not right in this department?

It is so bad here that late game I can hardly stand it. Scrolling is a pain even when there isn't much on the screen.

Horrible lag? It needs to think a bit rezooming, and was not at all very happy camper when 15 carriers and 40 cruisers attacked an enemy capital with LSP and 4 Defensive bases (and an assortment of ships)...

But apart from that? No huge issues.

A lovely set of little fixes for stuff mentioned on the forum the last few days! [&o]

I see nothing about the A.I freighter designs on a 15x15 map not having the fuel cells to transport goods around the huge map and end up crawling half across the map on 0 fuel slowing the whole economy...I also think migration to new colonies needed a massive boost for passenger ship space as it takes to long to make new colonies relevant..Hopefully next.

That is no little fix whipped out among crash bugs in a few days. The AI is a bit too much in love with point to point transport rather than using a network between space ports. And if you simply increase fuel capacity with galaxy size, you have done little but in effect made influence circles smaller and hyperdrives slower. If you establish out of range colonies, it makes sense to struggle. But the AI should not require freighters to be able to fly directly to the capital, but use star bases and space ports underway to make the good flow in shorter hops.

It just asked me to log onto the FTP server. Haven't been asked that before.  I downloaded 1701 last week with no issues just clicked on the link. Any suggestions?

Just reload the page and try again. You have to be logged into your Matrix account, not just your forum account. Two different things.

first thing I tried. Tried turning off my firewall, logging out and back into my computer. hmm I'll see if I have an ATG beta patch to download.

Nothing seems to be working. Can't even download files available to all members. Tried relogging into the store account. Put in a help desk ticket.

Hi everyone,

This is the first of two public beta updates this week. Some issues will also not be addressed in the first update, but will be worked on for the second update. Feel free to post reminders, but please be aware that everything cannot get attention at the same time.

We would value greatly your feedback if you have a chance to play with 1.7.0.2.

Regards,

- Erik

6 days after the purchase and already an announcement for such a wonderful update.
More AI(handling AI and opponent AI) gets better, more happy I am.
Improved resource distribution will be cool.

About save games gone.

DW creates a save folder with version number in the path. In the load dialog just go "up" and then enter the save folder for the previous version, your saves should be there.

It worked just fine at the first beta update, and appears to be the same here (my 1.701 saves are in the 1.7 folder since I did this the first time, it remembers your save location).

Hm, random or a good development?

I build some monitoring stations outside the Gizurean sphere, and the first thing when loading with new patch they offer to trade this for a disputed mining base. Their "border" has grown over time so my beacon is inside. They gave a decent deal too, but I love my beacon.
