Small Europe Scenario

Post by doomtrader »

Currently I'm working on a new scenario which should be included in the future to one of the patches.

This one represent much smaller Europe, with monthly turns, dedicated for the PBEM games.

Here is the first screenshot with initial setting:

I would like to know, how many of you would be interested in checking this.

Really like this and looking forward to it, very impressed by the support for the game so far.

Only game I've PBEMed before has been CEAW and would have preferred it to have been less turns overall (i.e monthly turns rather than fortnightly) so there is more chance to play more games.

Would be really really nice if it also has AI for single player.

Certainly would be interested, many games on this subject are so huge that real life means that you will never have the time to work through a whole game. Your proposal looks good.[:)]

It's good, wargamers are big on nostalgia.

Looking forward to this scenario myself.

I wasn't interested in Time of Fury until now...I've been looking for a "small scale" European WWII game, similar to "Clash of Steel" (old DOS game) and "Strategic Command". Anyway, I'll be following this with interest, thanks!

Most probably it won't be possible to create this scenario completely for the first patch but if you guys are interested, please let me know. I can add it as a work in progress. It should be playable but not 100% fun and rather for PBEM.

Would be very interested in seeing the WIP as part of the first patch. Will give us all chance to give some feedback which I hope may be useful.

Can I assume from the above that the final release will also have AI ?

ditto: like the idea..my interest would be to see it with an AI. I don't have the time for the full scale game. Such a scenario with a good AI would incline me towards buying this game!

I'm curious about whether the game engine can go in the other direction - i.e. larger maps. I've seen all those South American countries in the game database, and my mind wanders and thinks about the campaigns in Ethiopia and beyond. Or does the current map scale max out the game engine at this time?

Theoretically it could be possible to create world map in the scale similar to the one in current campaigns.

However I'm not willing to code AI for such monster :P

Many areas are never going to be used even in a world war scenario. I think it's Empire total war that gives you zones that you go through to get to the areas of contention. You kind of spend the proper time in limbo until you pop out in the other area. Games like HOI3 use the whole world but you don't when you play. Imagine having a battle in New Guinea or Truk or a major battleground in Tunisia ... ridiculous... hey wait a minute. Sometimes history is stranger than fiction.

Just pretend you commander of the European theatre or if you Axis just Germany. [:)] The scale is too small for a whole earth map...way too small.

Hi everybody,

Soon after releasing official 1.01 patch, I'm planning to make some extensive test for this scenario.
I'm looking for couple of people who would be willing to play it to the death ;)
Scenario is only 70 turns long, so you will be able to finish it in single player in one evening and PBEM probably within a week if you will be in the same (or similar) time zone.

I would like you to play it as the majors and in the offhand mode (as Switzerland for example), to observe how the AI is doing.
Scenario is more historical than the original campaign, but we would aim it to be balanced especially for PBEM.

If you are interested in early play and testing this, please post in here.

Greyshaft, is it good or bad?

Not good or bad ... just a nostalgic observation, I haven't played Third Reich in some twenty years or so and it bought back my early wargaming memories. Unfortunately here's no time to push around cardboard counters these days [:(]
