Beautiful...

The development team behind the award-winning games Decisive Campaigns: From Warsaw To Paris and Advanced Tactics is back with a new and improved game engine that focuses on the decisive year and theater of World War II! Decisive Campaigns: Case Blue simulates the German drive to Stalingrad and into the Caucasus of the summer of 1942, as well as its May preludes (2nd Kharkov offensive, Operation Trappenjagd) and also the Soviet winter counter-offensive (Operation Uranus) that ended with the encirclement of 6th Army in Stalingrad and the destruction of the axis minor armies. With many improvements including the PBEM++ system, this is a release to watch for wargamers!

Beautiful...

Post by gabeeg »

I bought it this morning and just spent 45 minutes with it at lunch. Vic, it is beautiful! It is an excellent progression of the DC engine. Warsaw to Paris is one of my favorite games, and Case Blue has a number of obvious improvements to make the game play smoother and more immersive. 45 minutes is not a long time but no problems encountered on my laptop. One of the things I found surprising was how solid and bug free DC:WtP was upon release, hope CB continues that (and so far seems to). Hats off to you and the beta team.

...Anybody in the market for a used copy of WitE (Just kidding...I am sure I will play it again...someday...maybe)
Kind Regards,

Harry

Simply brilliant --

Bought it, installed it, fired it up, and happily spent a half hour just looking through the OOB trees. The Full Case Blue scenario looks truly daunting - in a good way. I may have to start with 2nd Kharkov or one of the smaller ones.

Can't wait to sink my teeth into this. Congrats & thanks, Vic --

After having bought a plethora of wargames - almost the entire WWII catalogue by Matrix and HPS (90 percent of which are now shelved) - I know how quickly enthusiasm can turn into frustration. I think it might be different with this game. It looks very polished and may be the game I was hoping for. Eventually an expectation that WitE could never live up to...

+1

1. It seems to work ;)
2. No AI spamming of Brigade units so far!
3. AI defends its victory locations and does a good job of maintaining a defensive line so far.

It kicked my butt on game 1 without giving the appearance of cheating.

Lovely looking game. Now, who will make a WitE DC Mod?

From the manual:

"Big urban centers act as organisational hubs in this game. Bigger towns are presumed to have the infrastructure, rail hubs, storage facilities, housing, communication lines and nodes, and educated civilian population to give a huge boost to the logistical efforts of your side."

Thank you Vic. Common sense has finally returned to my East Front strategic gaming life.

I am thinking on it. 1941, whole front, intrigues me, as does a map mod... :)
