Very nice! I think you need to give the developers some time to make changes to the naval aspects of the game. They have said that they will look at it again. The next patch is scheduled for the end of January. Whether the naval changes come there I don't know, but I wouldn't expect them to unless they were quite superficial changes.

With the pre-dreadnoughts how are you classifying them? I think it is quite difficult because every couple of years between about 1890 and 1914 a new class of ship seemed to be launched. Not just pre-dreadnoughts either but destroyers and different types of cruisers. Some of the oldest pre-dreadnoughts seemed to be used just for coastal defence so really they are represented by the green dots already. But where you make the cut-off point and start representing pre-dreadnoughts as actual naval units is very difficult because the incremental changes between the different classes of ships were not always that big either. Also, Britain had no pre-dreadnoughts in its main battle fleet at Scapa Flow whereas the main German battle fleet did have around 5 or 6, I believe (because they had fewer dreadnoughts).

The pre-dreadnoughts from the Majestics class of 1898 - Lord Nelson class of 1908 were all pretty much the same, apart from speeds ranging from 14 knots of the Majestics - just 18 knots for the newest Lord Nelson class. All were to slow for the Grand Fleet battle squadrons of at least 21 knots, the predreadnoughts were used in alot more rolls than just coastal defence, as you suggest they might be included as part of the green dot defence system.I take the green dot system represents port fortification's,destroyer patrols, submarine patrols and mine fields.

The game can easily incorporate pre-dreadnought units, for rolls other than being included as part of this massive 1 Battleship unit that does absolutely nothing for the game.In history the pre-dreadnoughts were used for the imfamous failed Gallipoli landings,Atlantic convoy escorts heavy protection for troop ships,Heavy English channel protection for the B.E.F.Troop transport to Europe, shore bombardments where ever needed.Various other convoy protection IE the Mediterranian etc.The game has huge areas of Ocean space that is unused, unpatroled and wasted space that does nothing,I think the game needs alot more historical convoy systems represented, which all needs protection, from CP cruisers and submarines.

As for the Pre-dreadnoughts in the German High Seas Fleet, the Deutschland class ships, were to slow 18 knots, for the Dreadnought Battlefleet of 21-23 knots, even Admiral Scheer admitted that it was a tactical error to include these ships in the battlefleet because, they were more of a hindrance than a help, due to their slower max speed.

Ooooohhhhh

kirk23 could I politely suggest the British dreadnought be modelled on the Queen Elizabeth-class. No real reason for asking that other than they were the most powerful ships in the world at the time, the best looking and with the best names.... and I'm not even biased [:)]

They put out a game and take your money but lets give them time to make changes.

And you doubt they will be in the next patch.

?

Maybe its only been through the efforts of Kirk, Warspite and a few others that any improvements are being made, previously players seemed to be comfortable with the Naval Game as provided.

I know I am playing an old record, but the best supported game in the Matrix stable (WITP & WITPAE) is only there because of the millions of ideas (I'm not exaggerating) put forward by the players and modded by the players. Many have been picked up as official but the majority have resulted in continual improvements to game play and visuals.

Keep going Kirk & others and the Designers/Matrix might finally get my precious dollars.

The art as they say is on the drawing board as I write this,I will be doing different art for each Nation as per ship types,I think I have about 10 different light cruiser art to do,I will also be adding Armoured cruisers to the game + destroyers ![:)]

Yes, of course - have a bit of patience. It is clear that they have quite a lot of stuff in the pipeline for the game, certainly more than enough for just one patch.

I don't think so. There has been a lot of feedback on the forums from various people and the developers have responded positively to many of the suggestions. What the modders are doing now is starting to provide practical solutions to some of the things that have been raised - which is all good, as far as I am concerned.

I wasn't suggesting that the modders should stop. I don't know why you would think that. All power to them as they are coming up with some terrific ideas and solutions.

I have just completed the inclusion of destroyers, they come as a flotilla and can now be built by all nations with ships![:)]

I will alter the destroyer images on the left of picture,as they are being obscured by the title DESTROYER.

I have tweeked the destroyer art work,it now looks better, but given destroyers small size the art work is fiddly to do,its easier with bigger ships funnily enough.[;)]
