Cannot update base game

Cannot update base game

Just bought this great game with the 1st 2 expansions. The main game installed OK, but I cannot download the 2 expansions. I get error messages at the end of the download. I have a new Windows 8 PC and wonder if that is the problem. I cannot download the latest update for Conflict of Heroes for the same reason.
