OT: mint conditon tank found in the russian mud
Today I come bearing an olive branch in one hand, and the freedom fighter's gun in the other. Do not let the olive branch fall from my hand. I repeat, do not let the olive branch fall from my hand. - Yasser Arafat Speech to UN General Assembly

My family watched the whole 9 minutes and were enthralled watching. The tank was in amazing shape. Cannot believe they got the tracks to actually move after 70 years in the mud upside down.

I would love to find one in my garden. Nice video, thank you.

Apparently the mud has virtually no oxygen in it and the tanks and aircraft remain in very good shape. There was a video floating around a couple of years ago of them pulling out a nice T34 with captured German markings on it. With the improvement in technology and the demand for WWII artifacts you can bet that there will be a lot more found in the next few years.

That is amazing!

You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life

Obviously the dog was Russian as it was trying to attack the tank!

you'd rather find a 500lb GP bomb and if you'd be in Austria, you would have to bear the cost to dispose it if you would own the garden.

That was one hell of a camouflage job.
Occasionally, and randomly, problems and solutions collide. The probability of these collisions is inversely related to the number of committees working on the solutions. -- Me.

Wow. Simply amazing. Not only did the tracks move but the suspension elements were moving when they pushed the thing on the carrier.
Probably had live ammo inside too.
Was that a hull penetration they showed in the video?
Gotta love the Russians. They just dig the thing up, hose it off, drag it onto "dry" land, push it onto a truck with a dozer and then just drive off without even putting blocks under the treads or chaining it down. [:)] If that happened in the US there would be 8 federal and local agenices on the scene and 28 lawyers. The landowner would have spent 3 years filing an EIR and paid $129,000 in fines for wetland pollution with fuel. Then they would force him to dig up a cubic acre of soil, haul it off to some Indian reservation at $3000 a ton and then fill the hole in with EPA approved soil at $5000 a ton.
Then, when he was done, the county would seize the land by eminent domain and put up a park which would be swarmed by the undocumented every Easter, trampling his strawberries. He would develop a tic and start to drinking heavily. His wife would leave and then.....

In America, you drive tank. In Soviet Russia, tank drives YOU

Bovington will be tripping over itself to get a hold of this, as they should!
Personally, I'd love to see it come to my neck of the woods at the MVTF.
Seriously, what an amazing find! Even the camo paint is still on it. Protected as it has been, it should be in virtually brand new condition once given a little attention.
Very cool.
