Fighter vs Fighter Bomber

Post by cplprice »

Does the game engine treat the fighter any differently than the fighter bomber in regards to air to air combat? If I have a fighter bomber and it is flying a cap mission, instead of a ground attack mission does it have the same capabilities as a fighter version of the same aircraft? It should, I'd just like to verify.

Yes.

Any differences between the Marks are already reflected in the respective aircraft stats.

Alfred, as always, is right.
Usually the FB stats reflect the weight of the fighter bombers, giving them much less maneuvrability rating...
But, at least for Japan, there are FBs that can hold their own on CAP, especially against bombers.
The Nick-a, for example, is an excellent Anti-Bomber plane, and so is the KI-102a.

IIRC there was a hard coded disadvantage for FB vs F. This might have been for vanilla WitP though.
If you gained knowledge through the forum, why not putting it into the AE wiki?
