[1.9.0.6] fighters get destroyed after loading savegame

Shortly after loading a save game each base and ship will have about half of its fighters vanish.

Actually it seems to be half of the max number of fighters. So if you have less than half built it will destroy all of them.

If the fighters are deployed on loading the save the game will dock all the fighters and then remove about half.

This can be tested in a new test game with the editor adding a base of ship with fighter bays. Wait for fighters to be built. Save the game. Load the game and a day or so later poof half the fighters vanish.

Edit: More details following testing.

This bug persists in 1.9.0.13. It's frustrating because the game will auto-populate empty fighter bay space with half fighters, half bombers. In many cases I want to dedicate fighter bays to bombers only, and there seems to be no way to do this other than painstakingly delete all the fighters and building bombers in their place.

And the bug is still here in 1.9.5.1.

It is severe enough (I play manually/slowly) that it is not ever worth having fighters for me. Defeats the point of the money I forked out for Legends. Holding my breath hasn't helped. Any possibility of fixing this bug which predates funky troop options, prewarp empires, nasty pirates and a neat repackaging with modding options.

I see no reason why 3/4+ of my fighters should be scrapped because I had the audacity to save the game and turn my computer off for a few hours or days. I stopped playing for a year because this issue (and a few others) were never addressed, or even properly acknowledged. I paid more money for the latest expansion assuming that high visibility issues such as this would have been dealt with. It is not too late - make it so.

Yeah, I've been a little disappointed as well. I actually stopped playing shortly after I bought Legends (I hate the character system, it has really ruined espionage...it also adds even more randomness to a strategy game that was already pushing the envelope on too much randomness). I skipped Shadows, which although I like the troop features, the game seems to be all about pirates now. So much so that the AI empires can't compete with them. I figured maybe Universe would have fixes for all the annoyances and so I grabbed it, but I am already starting to remember why I lost interest in this otherwise great game.
