W7, Units won't move

I bought this game recently (edit: Chariots of War) seeing that it was supposed to work with W7, the game installs and starts fine but when trying to move any units on the map the hourglass pointer appears as it does when showing the unit movement animation but then animation never fires and the game gets stuck in an infinite loop.

Please help.
