Avalon Hill Scenarios?

Post by blackadderIII »

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if TOAW is tweakable enough that it can be used to emulate the play of older Avalon Hill titles like Stalingrad, or Panzerblitz or Panzer Leader?

Anyone ever seen a scenario that depicts trying to set up old games like that?

Thanks...

Well, Tactics II and Blitzkrieg have already been converted to TOAW III. Any other than operational level battles as such won't really work. There're scenarios where the hex is 1km, Telumar's Anzio @1km, as well as Bob Cross' Okinawa '45 scenario. A good adaptation of AH WW2 titles would be Rob Kunz's Road to... Series. If you prefer tactical battles, there's WinSPWW2 and SPWAW, both are freeware now.

I've tried Blitzkrieg & Third Reich. I still have all 4 editions (no free upgrades, like Matrix does [:-]of the AH Third Reich Editions, plus Advanced Third Reich. (a bit obsessed, no?); Both were faithful to the spirit of the boardgame. I think Third Reich is very good...Excellent thread, and the designer did a tremendous job in letting the game evolve, based on feedback, and his gift for scenarios. The map has graphics that have the feel of the original. Give it a go![:'(]
There is no difference in ideology between the (American) Democrat & Republican Parties...only different special interest groups. They have one thing in common...self interest.
