Jusi's Global War AAR

Post by jusi »

I played WiF (the 4th edition) hundreds of hours during the 90's, but I never play again since. I already tried 2 MWIF global war games. I stopped both at the beginning of 1941: my goals was mainly to learn the new rules and the computer interface. It should be almost ok right now and hopefully this one will be a bit longer [;)].

All available optional rules are on, except unlimited breakdown.

I hope you will enjoy this AAR: do not hesitate to comment it. I like to learn from my mistakes, in particular my unknown ones!

Sep/Oct. 1939, impulse 1 (Axis).
- Germany declares war on Poland. What a surprise! “Dantzig is part of the German Lebensraum”, Goebbels says. “What about the Polish?” asks a reckless journalist? “The Polish have never existed”, Goebbels answers.
- The US feels a bit nervous by these declarations (new marker: 2).

Here is the setting in Germany and Poland.

- First Japanese strategic bombing in Chungking by a NAV: it fails and the pilot is still searching boats.
- Stukas ground strikes Lodz and Warsaw with success: 4 polish units over 5 disorganized.
- A Japanese NAV ground strikes Chengchow without success. The Japanese aero naval have definitely to understand that Chinese have no boat.
- Terauchi rails to Nanking.
- Germans enter Krakow.
- Germans enter in Gdynia. The polish floats escape and rebase to Liverpool.
- A Japanese motorized corps comes from Manchuria into China.
- Germans take Poznan without discussion.
- They also destroy the Polish cavalry in the forest between Poznan and Katowice, and a Polish infantry north-east of Warsaw. The roads of Lodz and Warsaw are opened.

I think my CW convoy setting is optimal in this game (maximum production, 6 oil saved/turn and still 5 CP unused) [:)]
