1.01 almost ready to go

Piercing Fortress Europa is a new game from veteran game designer Frank Hunter, which covers the campaigns of the Western Allies from July, 1943 through the end of April, 1945 in Sicily and Italy. Each area has its own map and time scale to best represent the campaigns for Sicily and Italy and the player is offered complete freedom, limited only by a historical order of battle and logistics model, to plan his operations and explore all of the many “what ifs” that the Italian theater has to offer.

1.01 almost ready to go

Post by FrankHunter »

1.01 will have the following :

- Fixed the couple of bugs that have been reported.
- encrypted passwords for PBEM play
- added a new screen resolution, 2560 x 1600
- Increased the counter offset so its easier to tell there's multiple units in a hex
- Fixed a bug that caused the yellow hex outline to sometimes not show up
- Added some sounds and some checkboxes in the Settings form to turn some or all of them off and on.
- The red ID indicator when a unit is about to be withdrawn now happens 3 turns before withdrawal
- Switched the Settings and Supply buttons

Also made a number of manual changes and some additions.

Thank you!

I'm getting close, but I would like to see some more AAR's. I know, it's kind of cheap of me to let other people test this for me!!

A new version of the manual has now been finished and I think it will be available soon.

One other change to the game is that now when you click on a unit in the list of on-map units (available through the Reinforcement form) the screen will move to show that unit's hex.

Looking forwards to the patch. I have both an allied and axis campaign going, and so far I find the AI on both sided to be doing a good job. The axis doesn't really have a lot to work with early on I found out quickly, and I managed to lose 3 units to the allied AI after ~30 turns. I think I will use the patch as an excuse to restart :)

I hope you continue with this game system on other campaigns, and maybe at lower scales as well.

Frank, with next update...
For improved UI, can we have a hot key to highlight to the victory locations as shown in victory screen? Or snap to the location from that screen?

cheers.

I can't get the SSG games to work smoothly on my computer. I got a new computer several years ago, and the screen flashes and jumps around a lot? It's only with SSG games. Everything else runs fine!!

I have a 1080p monitor and run at 1920x1080. I only have an integrated graphics card and it blinks and jumps! I suspect it doesn't like my graphics set-up? But like I stated, it's only on SSG's games?

tombo, the patch was ready a couple of days ago but it was decided not to switch the Supply and Settings buttons as it might be confusing for current owners so I had to switch them back and uploaded that on Friday. Also, the manual was finished a few days after the patch and we wanted them to be done at the same time. Now its just a matter of them doing the pdf layout and the patch installer.

Treale, there shouldn't be any compatibility issues with PFE and any system that runs Windows. The game doesn't use DirectX or any special libraries. It uses only standard Windows. It should work fine on Linux running Wine too.
