Exciting stuff. Thanks, Daz. Love the graphics.

You think any of them will try to slip around your ambush at Kerasovon 5, cutting west and sth across the hills and coming round to the bridge behind you, via Silaria?

Daz, I am looking for your new AAR!

How did you placed regiments? I suppose you did it manually - you placed Bns and regiment HQ and than attached all together. Did you?

Similar example are Div Recce Gp, Div heavy weapons etc. You placed them individually and than attached them to whole 15th Inf Regt, that had to be placed also. Right?

I consider the building of defend lines on higher level (regiment+) as the most weakness current state of engine - it needs too much user´s interventions. It is the reason why I ask you how you mad your defend lines.

I too was wondering whether those nice tight, regimented regiments were placed manually, Daz?

They may well try mate.
2 DL on the high ground to the south of Kerasovon, should spot an attempt to bypass.
It can then be countered by one of the Bn's that are formed in Vee formation.
This formation has 2 Coy's up front with the third held in reserve for just such contingencies.
Theat's the main principle behind the formation. Well that, and additional protection to the flanks.
It does of course sacrifice frontage to achieve this.

The Regiments are formed with the individual Bn's as you surmised.
In my opinion the scale of the game does not allow effective use of Regimental formations, especially if you are playing the under dog.

The frontage of a Regimental formation is very rarely large enough to cover the approaches, paths roads ect that need to be covered with your limited resources.
Also you have no way to assign how you want the Bn's, and support weapons distributed within the Regimental formation.
As far as I am concerned the game is best played at Bn and Coy level.
Regiment and above I only find useful to move troops that are well to the rear closer to the front line, and then only if there is no hurry to get them there, or for newly arriving formations that have no orders delay.

The most useful command at regiment level is in Situ, and is the one I use almost exclusively to keep the command load at a reasonable level.
I have used Regimental attacks, and defend orders, but its always hit and miss as to what will happen.
Some people like this though, as they feel it gives a more realistic feel to the game.
I'm afraid I am to much of a control freak to get much enjoyment from an inept AI Regimental Commander though [:D]

I think Dave is going to start to dread me doing new AAR's!

How come I seem to be the only one that notices these bugs [:'(]

See here for more details:

tm.asp?m=3692761&mpage=1&key=&#3692761

I think its pointless to continue with this.
With no Divisional base it means that all the Divisional artillery will be next to useless.
I have just lost 1000 men, 100 horse and carts, and several hundred tones of ammunition, and basics.

In a scenario where you are already facing terrible odds, I think it may be a cart to far [:'(]

Agreed. No point in continuing. It's ridiculous.

Hope it can be hotfixed quickly and without worrying about schedules etc. Though Dave is away until October, I think, on his tour of the USA, so nothing will happen quick.

What an awful bug.

It's a good question - why do you always seem to find them. This one might be new, because it certainly didn't happen when I played this scenario a few years back. But the nature of this bug must mean it happens pretty often since it's surely quite common that a Div base would dispatch most of its men in this way?

So. Fixed this issue Daz. Workaround, I mean. It's easily done in scenmaker. I doubled the manpower at each Greek base. I gave a few orders and ran it, and there seems to be no chance of disbandment. See pic below. I changed my already amended scenario (I had entrenched front line Greeks and altered objectives by giving more VPs to killing the enemy), but if you want I can easily change the stock one and mail it to you, or post it. You would have to start from scratch, sadly.
