Subverting other players?

Post by Grotius »

I can't figure out how to foment unrest among other players. The online manual says to click on the appropriate button in the Diplomacy screen, but the appropriate button may be mislabeled. One says "Pacify Unrest in your own systems" or something like that. The other button says "Pacify Unrest in Malchick's systems" or something like that. Should this label read "Foment Unrest" or "Cause Unrest" or something like that? Or am I trying the wrong button?

Also, I still have trouble "grabbing" worlds after I raid them. They go into unrest for awhile, and when they emerge, INVARIABLY one of my opponents "gets" the system. I've tried hovering over the system, ready to pounce by building the appropriate freighter, but I never win. Does the AI have an advantage here? It's very annoying.

Still a fun game, though. <g>

The UI is really awkward on that screen. If you click on the "Pacify Unrest" button it switches to "Create Unrest". The default $/year amount is $10, but you can change that with "Change" button. $50 seems a good amount that can switch a philosophy in just a few minutes at 10x.

As far as swiping a world as it comes out of unrest, try hitting pause as soon as the message pops up. It also helps to have a free production queue so that the freighter gets built right away.
