Inexplicable sudden drop in Development;GDP

Post by sulaco123 »

I am still a bit of a novice but I think I have some of the economic mechanics down. In my most recent game I managed to get my home planet to +27 development and 6598m population, resulting in 135% culture and 196k GDP.

Then in a tick my development drops to +21, culture to 105% and GDP to 153 k. I have not found any thing that could cause this drop. Yet the result for my empire is a 28k drop in income.Any clues on what is happening?

The catch is that these things are not tracked on a per-tick basis. Meaning that an earthquake can knock a planet's development down 20 points but you won't see the effect on screen for some time. Things like economics and research are only checked about once per month of in-game time, the same way that construction is checked only once every few days as well.

Point being that something might have happened earlier and you're seeing the effect kicking in much later. Or it could just be a bug. Can't be sure without more info, sorry.

135 to 105 should be "loss of ultra rare". Having an ultra rare in store gives +30.
